Seriously, are the fires in Canada causing that much of a problem? I don't think I've ever seen an MLB game canceled due to poor air quality.
Not even in Los Angeles.

Yeah NYC s getting choked out right now with smoke blowing down from Canada.
This happened just two years ago. Trump today threatened to tariff them if they don’t start managing their forests better. Environmental regs are to blame as they aren’t managing their forests properly and they are vulnerable to wildfires.

This isn’t the first time Canada has smoked us out. It may also affect the World Cup final this weekend.

Thanks for the info. I've heard very little about this situation here in Louisiana.

The air in metro Detroit yesterday was 400 something on a 500 scale - hazardous. About half of that today, but still gross.

I was in OH/PA three years ago and had this going on, I had to report air quality to the EPA rep every day. This stuff is usually overblown but sensitive people can be affected a good bit. This is mostly just a result of a slow news cycle

They actually are. I like just north of South Bend, IN and the smoke is think enough here that yesterday visibility was only about 3/4 of a mile, and it was much worse in Michigan and parts of Ohio. I couldn't imagine playing a sport outside in it.
Today is better now that some rain has come through.

Not even in Los Angeles.
The air quality has reached very dangerous levels in Chicago, Cleveland and other areas of the upper Midwest...

Yeah, that sounds terrible. I don't have a medical background, but common sense seems to suggest that being subjected to poor air quality on a consistent basis would lead to some serious health problems.
Hopefully something like this situation doesn't happen too often.

I just remembered that something like this was caused by fires in Mexico maybe 15 years or so ago. Lots of smoke and the air quality was very bad. In DFW.
I had forgotten about that.

Yes. Detroit was rated the worse air quality in the world this week.
Eta: just saw this already mentioned above. Glad I wasn’t making it up.
