I just don't think Eddie can keep JBE from that extra 4%

Not everyone is a partisan zealot, and Eddie is perhaps even less photogenic than google-eyed Edwards. Plus, this is the runoff. Moderates and unaffiliated voters have only his horrible ads and Trump groupie lip service to go on, and those things are more repellent than attractive to them.

The Trump purity issue that got him the edge is the same thing that will limit him in a general election. Super partisan only works in the primary, and works against a candidate in the general.

I'm voting R because JBE has been horrible, but I do believe the right wing purity thing and Eddie's general weenie-ness just got him re-elected.

Hope I'm wrong.

If JBE wins next month, it'll be because of some Abraham supporter holdouts. Vast majority are gonna do the right thing and vote Rispone. Others, you've seen on this board, are filth.

Rispone will win.

These threads only help bring awareness of his run for governor.

It will be a tough fight and JBE might very will win. BUT...

One of the biggest hurdles for Rispone was name recognition. Now he has extra time and the media will have to talk about him.

The next election will be a lower turnout one. That helps too. Esp if Trump comes down again and gives a full throated endorsement ("he's a businessman like me").

He also got Abraham's endorsement so no infighting.

Rispone has a hill to climb, no doubt, but it's not a mountain.

Very good point.

It wasn’t in 2015, why do you think now?
Btw, I agree.

Like I said elsewhere, I can see a path.

No it’ll be because of stupid pieces of shite like you that still can’t close your fricking mouth alienating potential supporters from the Abraham side, you fricking idiot.

JBE is a strong choice. Pro-life, Pro-2A, and Pro-budget surplus. He corrected all of Jindal’s wrongs!

Someone had a stat for me earlier today: Something like no incumbent LA governor whose reelection went to a runoff has ever been reelected. Not sure how accurate that is. But, I think this runoff will be closer than we expect. Certainly closer than it should be in a fully MAGA state like LA.

No he didn’t.

He didn’t reform the tax code, he kept that stupid film tax credit thing, he didn’t do tort reform, and he didn’t reform the lucrative nursing home business.

And he lied and raised taxes.

I'm certain when it comes to Donald Trump that me and you would probably be standing shoulder to shoulder in those battles. But these remarks are very unfortunate. A relative few Abraham supporters, clearly devout supporters, have taken a hardline stance based on, from what Ive seen, precisely stated and unwavering beliefs. Certainly not because they would like to see JBE win.

I actually believe that quite respectable....willing to risk personal suffering in the name of staying true to their beliefs. The "right thing" isn't necessarily the same from person to person. It's a subjective matter when it comes to voting. IMO it's quite unbecoming to condemn someone for exercising that right. And most especially unbecoming to label them as filth for that.

Please note that I use the term "unbecoming" because Im making an assumption in your favor that you have certain beliefs that will not be compromised for most any reason.

If JBE had gotten 41%, I'd feel differently, but I think we can agree that none of his 46% are changing their votes. That, plus Eddie's image, plus the Abraham "frick you, I'm staying home" crowd means a JBE victory.

What reason do you have to vote for the incumbent in the runoff if you didn't vote for him in the primary?

This isn't like 2015 when people switched over to give a new guy their vote after not voting for JBE in the primary.. JBE is who he is and defined by the last four years now.

Honest question, are you trying to help Edwards?

Man, give it a rest.

I agree, but lots of them won’t be returning to the polls in November.

Cool. An outsider referring to JBE voters as filth because they don’t vote the way the outsider wants them to. Why don’t you stick to your own local politics, and let the voters of Louisiana decide their own fate?

Nothing is static.

Some may not vote, some may change their mind thought that’s unlikely and some folks that didn’t vote will vote this time. This will happen on both sides.

Rispone is a relative unknown. No one knows how he will do with the spotlight on him. People who didn’t even consider him before will get their first look.

Abraham has a role to play too. He’s a good man, he loves his state, and he could play a big role here.

Interesting times, let’s see what happens.
