Pretty sure I said ESPN and last time I checked they were an American company based in America.
But the headline you linked says "ESPN writer".
His name is Mark Ogden, and he is English.

It's childish to get upset over things like this.

This is sports. Who cares? This is pedantic thinking.
Don’t love the way you used the word “pedantic” here.
My comment would be referred to as pedantic more accurately than the OP.

Take note of who bitched when the red car was overturned.

I know I will be.
I am not a fan but want the USA to win. Who would be happy if they lost?

This your first time watching soccer?
Seeing how the cornerstone of this site is southern state collegiate football, there’s probably quite a few here that would say yes.

You clearly didn't read the link I posted which was from a very neutral source.
But keep laughing and doubling down about the historical impact of this game and the response afterwards by the entire world.

You know half the country is peeing their pants right now since we're already the underdog expecting a Belgium win so they can gloat and blame Trump.
This is the level of winning for the Left in 2026.
Some have TDS so bad they will root against Team USA just because Trump made the call. Must be a miserable life for them.

Did the USA go under after we lost at basketball to the USSR in 1972? No we did not. Was our nation harmed in any meaningful way? Nope. And that's a game we invented.

They shouldn't root against Team USA, but POTUS and FIFA definitely tainted it. Sad.

There are more fans vested in Mississippi State football than are vested in US Mens Soccer.
At best they are bandwagon fans looking for entertainment until football starts. I’d say 95% of US fans watching don’t even know the rules of the game.

I sure don't. And why so much dramatic falling down in these games?

I saw a very knowledgeable soccer expert 2 weeks ago talking about if the US advanced to the round of 32. He was asked why chance they had after that.
He explained how advanced overall the other teams were at that stage, and explained how the US would have to play maybe the best game they US has ever played (ever in history), and have to repeat that 4 times in a row to even have a shot.
Therefore, I watch the game for the excitement and possible miracle, but don't hold them to any expectations of having to win. And honestly, it makes the game more enjoyable as a casual fan.
We are the underdog, therefore will probably come up shortly. If not, let's fricking goooooooooooooo!
