A small town mayor rubbing elbows with billionaires?

It's similar to Obama, but Obama was at least in the epicenter of the Chicago Democratic Machine. He was being groomed by 2002-2003, then got Oprah & Co behind him and took off like a rocket in 2004. 2008 was already 8 years earlier than the establishment Dems planned.

I started asking this question about Buttigieg over a year ago when I saw a profile for him in the New Yorker or the Atlantic or something. He hadn't even announced his candidacy yet, but was hinting at an exploratory committee - How the frick do you find this guy in a small town in one of the reddest of red states, with no springboard of leadership (like successfully dealing with a natural disaster or something). It's bizarre.

I assumed all along he was running for Vice President or building cred for a Senate/Gov run, and maybe he was, but now its just like - is this seriously going to happen?

Right of the bat, due to that, I would not take anything they say seriously. They are obviously, mentally defective.

That guy was RUNNING the CIA before switching gears to VP and President.

The problem here is that he was supposed to have been a political appointee to "rein in" the agency. He was not known openly to have been an asset or career covert operative and that has never been publicly acknowledged.

But, every year goes by I believe he was an asset. Now, whether he was picked up while he was still in the navy, or before/during the formation of Zapata or just after, certainly by 1960 or thereabouts, I have almost zero doubts that HW was working for the CIA in a covert capacity.

Previously disclosed FBI files include a memo from bureau director J. Edgar Hoover, noting that his organization had given a briefing to two men in the intelligence community on November 23, 1963, the day after the assassination of John F. Kennedy. The memo refers to one as “Mr. George Bush of the Central Intelligence Agency” and the other as “Captain William Edwards of the Defense Intelligence Agency.”

When Nation magazine contributor Joseph McBride first uncovered this document in 1988, George Herbert Walker Bush, then vice president and seeking the presidency, insisted through a spokesman that he was not the man mentioned in the memo: “I was in Houston, Texas, at the time and involved in the independent oil drilling business. And I was running for the Senate in late ’63. I don’t have any idea of what he’s talking about.” The spokesman added, “Must be another George Bush.”

When McBride approached the CIA at that time, it initially invoked a policy of neither admitting nor denying anyone’s involvement with the agency.

"Theory?" To the contrary.

It is a well-documented, tragic and -- especially if you're paranoid -- terrifying fact.

People said this about Obama, too. But in his case they were trying to deflect from the fact that he had never had a job prior to running for the Illinois Senate.

You are suggesting that a known skull and crossbones guy from a blue blood family was brought in to "rein in" the agency?

Since it appears obvious you either did not read the rest of my post or you didn't understand all its implications, "Yes." That's exactly the stated reason he was brought in. On the face of it, it was applauded (although some, notably Frank Church had initial concerns)- a scion of a patrician political elite family, he was, as far as Congress knew, a "known" stable entity. The agency (and the IC as a whole) was reeling after the Pentagon Papers, Watergate, just the whole mess that was the early 70s at that point (which would culminate in the Church Committee reforms which would neuter the CIA for a generation).

quote:

Would you not agree that given his family and background that its more likely that he was brought in by the deep state/globalists/etc to stamp out any disloyal elements within the agency?

Regardless of his attitude towards "disloyal" elements, I believe more every year that passes that he was an inside man playing the outsider. Now, his successor (who had 4 years on the job), did stamp out a lot of perceived "disloyal" elements, particularly 1st and 2nd generation Americans, but he also severely damaged the HUMINT capacity of the United States, a legacy which remains to this day.

Overreliance on technical means of intelligence gathering began on Turner's watch. However, H.W. did begin the process of neutering the agency per the Church hearings.

I am pretty sure Pete is CIA, but this reasoning doesn't hold up. I personally know one billionaire and another person who is awful close to being a billionaire.

And I'm a total nobody. Not all of the mega wealthy just stick to staying inside their homes and swimming in gold coins. They're actual, real people too.
