For those overweight, what tips do you have to help/encourage them to lose weight?

My father had a heart attack and then triple bypass at the age of 50.
He is now 73, walks 2 miles a day and fishes 2 days a week.
He did make major lifestyle changes in diet and exercise after the heart attack, but has lived a normal, fun life for the last 23 years.
There is no sign of his slowing as of now.
Hang in there, make changes and live to see your grandkids.

Make health your passion and you'll see progress quickly, easily, and it will even be enjoyable. It's a new journey. Good luck and enjoy the transformation.

I lost almost 7 pounds in the first four days after reaching ketosis. It’s mainly water weight that early in the process, but it sounds like you’ve hit the sweet spot. Good for you. I’ve long thought about posting a recipe and Keto thread on the PT board. I know there’s a food and drink board, but I like y’all better and would prefer y’all live longer.

For those trying to lose weight or trying to learn about working out. Come tl the H&F board, prolly the most welcoming board in the site. Plenty of good info and posters there to help. And post in the putthaforkdown thread for accountability

Best of luck, best wishes. Sorry I'm not that religious or i'd offer you prayers buddy.
I just have to say I'm almost jealous.
As we grow older we see a LOT of our loved ones pass away from the very first heart attack, or be crippled from their very first stroke. I know this may sound stupid but I've actually thought a Lot about this recently.
Having a minor heart attack or stroke allows us to adjust and get help to lessen the chance of it happening again or staving off "the big one"
As bad as this may seem right now, understand that this may have been a blessing.
Best of luck brother, I'm in the same boat. I have a 3 year old daughter (only child) and im 48 in august. I'm literally almost jealous.

I hope you are able to get things turned around. I don't agree with your positions, but I appreciate life and you being a good father for your child for years to come.

In case you were wondering why I was posting these past few days, I was in denial. My seven your old son crying today made me realize what an a-hole I was.
Don't make the idiotic mistake I did. Please.
You'll fight through brother. If anything it'll make you realize how trivial shite like this board is in the grand scheme of things.
At the end of the day we're all brothers, and no matter the differences in thought we should pull for each other no matter what.
Wish you the best.

Dude, I feel you. I was going down a bad path. Felt like shite. Have lost 25 lbs. in the last three months, am walking/running and working out, staying away from sweets and carbs, and limiting alcohol.
I saw myself having a heart attack because of being too lax in diet, exercise and alcohol. I think I turned it around. Another 20 lbs. to go. It's much harder to come off now. Just gotta dig deep.
Prayers tonight for you, brother. Pray for my grandson, too. He's had two grand mal siezures in the last week and is in the hospital. Life can kick you in the arse sometimes.

This LSU board community might very well be the best board in the land.
I thought I would mention my health probelms.
I know that you know that I - well lets just say I am not the most popuar guy here.
So many posters posted the nicest of things.
I will always post the best of you guys to all my pals.
LSU rocks.

Nah, don't confuse ideas with the person.
We're all human, you're one of us here on TD whether I agree with you or Not and you seem like a good person. Regardless of feedback, we need varied ideas here

You're 52 years old and you have a 7 year old son? You'd better quit worrying about politics and focus on your health and living long enough to raise your son.
Good luck.
