Restarting the student loan interest and payment is the dumbest thing. Why not let the dems force their hand? Republicans went to school too.

We may never see a republican president while millineals hold power

When would be a good time for people to pay back their student loans?

Student loan payments were already restarting at the end of August (60 days after June 30), with or without the debt ceiling bill.

It’s not about when, it’s about who decides to unpause it. If we left it going, dem administration would be hammered economically and eventually break. Now we have 47M people of which half are republicans being unhappy

Nope, they would just use some event to misappropriate funds to bail them out. Just like when they bailed out all of the democrat cities who couldn’t afford the pensions.

The American public has the attention span of a gnat. Student loan repayments won't even be on the radar next year.

Uhh. If the Dems had their way they would eliminate it all. And leave people who paid their loans feel like suckers and then ask “what am I going to get?” Then the handout cycle continues.

They weren’t forced to borrow 100k for their gender studies degrees. Just like I’m not forced to buy a new, fully loaded, SUV. But if I buy one, and sign loan papers, what am I expected to do?

And what do you mean “force their hand”? On student loans? You don’t wanna know what hand they obviously want to play on those. It’s once again called “charge it to the responsible taxpayers”.

Frick these irresponsible borrowers. There is also a huge portion of people who sacrificed and paid them off.

Don't think its much of a big deal anyway.

If I remember correctly, most of the millenials were bitching about it only forgiving up to $10K

Their useless degrees were much more than that they said.

See the fee schedule laid out in the contract they signed.

Being holstered, that's the only trajectory. The opposition shoots to kill.

Eventually break? How? We just raised the debt limit again! The US should have already broke.

But the magic wand is waived and we just raise it again!

Remember when surpassing 1-1 debt to GDP ratio was seen as a huge deal? And left in question the financial security of the United States? It’s currently 130 percent and rising fast.

So. What breaking point?

Yeah, it's a shame that people who willingly borrowed money should be expected to pay it back.

I agree completely. If you signed the bill you get the check.

It is crazy to me that we've done this though.

First government ran educational facilities have become overly bloated with extraordinary cost especially in the humanities segments, cost is then to the students. While PHD candidates are teaching classes for Pennie's on the dollar.

Then we tell kids that the only way to a bright future is to go to college. We teach them almost no financial education in high school.

Then the government offers 17 year olds "financial aid" to the tune of 7-9% interest and we bury kids in debt before they're legal adults and have no credit.

It's a wild system.

Obviously you're responsible for your decisions and people should repay their loans but I think what OP is saying- why not make the democrats be the ones responsible for stopping the pause. Instead of including it in a bill with republican negotiations, make the democrat leadership solely responsible for reinstating the payments.

It's just one less talking point for them in 24.

We're gonna legalize marijuana!! "Nope"

We're going to cancel student loan debt!! "Nope"

Were the dem drones pissed about losing their doctors and not saving 2,500 a year in health insurance like they were promised?

You think the media wouldn’t cover for and give them an out on that?
