lol ... I was wondering if anyone would remember this thread.
I really enjoyed the whole campaign process. I realized early on it was just "visiting," and I like to visit.
To recap:
Yes, I grew up in CovLA and graduated SPS. 4 sons also attended, 3 graduated, the oldest finished at LSMSA ... subtle brag.
Covington is a small city located between the two rivers. Population about 10,000+. Cov Post Office delivers mail to 60,000 people. So 50,000 people have Cov addresses, but do not live in the City of Covington. So much of what people think of as Covington is not Covington proper. Check out a map of the boundaries (too lazy to link).
Hence, talk of traffic, flooding, apartment and managed growth often times doesn't apply within the city limits. That said, I have proposed the City create a position for a liaison between Parish Govt as well as the State to coordinate actions on those challenges.
This idea was very well received, hence endorsements from Chamber, Alliance and Republican Party. (another subtle brag).
And there's nothing in my TD post history to be of concern.
Don't take it personally, but I'm probably not going to discuss Cov or St. Tammany issues on a message board.
Finally, REK is coming to the Varsity. Mmmmm? It's been a while since the old man caught a few shows.
ETA: Fat Man was nickname given to me at LSU - not because I was fat, but because I had a worldly knowledge similar to the "fat man in the old black and white movies, sitting at the corner table of the restaurant." ... "The Fat Man knows too much." It was (is) a term of respect and endearment, which is nice.

Good. Do something about the folks from the south shore who are invading our turf.

Make the Bogue Falaya bridge 4 lanes asap.
Congrats on winning. You had a clever marketing campaign. Good job. Now cleverly fix that boondogle of road between 190 and Collins!!

If you’re looking for any competant staff to help run your office now, let me know. I’m a recent law grad with experience in government, and i’d love to live on the North Shore. I used to gig regularly at the bar next door to Buster’s Place downtown on Boston Street. I would be honored to lend a hand at drafting a new zoning plan.

This was requested iirc but was shot down. Evidently, the drainage work at "Simpson Creek" was quite a bit more than the state was willing to pay for.
ETA - at least I believe that is the official name of the big ditch running under Tyler by CVS. I'm going off an old memory.

Please pass an ordinance that bans the cooking and consumption of Uncle Ben's rice inside the city limits. Good lord... and these people think they can cook.

Par boiled rice in gumbo and/or Jambalaya should be a felony in Louisiana
