Let's not forget Carter is the one that got us entangled with Iran and democratic nations just so an old guy could live a few more months. Those directly affected paid that price until they were released upon Reagan's inauguration.

Reagan's mistake of misplaced goodwill in Tip O'Neill in signing that amnesty is a cautionary tale that so many republicans in Congress are ignoring today including many in the White House surrounding the current republican President.
If you can't heed the mistake of Reagan's naivety and do everything you can to stop the importation of communism, you have no business serving in public office.

They rapidly got worse under Clinton. The tech bubble built and burst during his presidency. Then him establishing lax home lending policies caused the housing bubble which caused the great recession. In the 12 years of GOP control of the White House this century only a Coronavirus has brought the economy to its knees.
