A better question is how/why did you start a political thread on the Money board.
Because the question surrounds our money. Plus I figured there are more people here with financial knowledge on taxes than on the poli board.
Very interesting and informative responses.

Because they already made their money. The policies won't hurt them and they don't want to get kicked out of the fancy folk club

This is the question Democrats ask of the poor

Do this, and you will understand every war, election, pandemic, etc. throughout history. Just stop and look at the ways money moves in these, and everything makes complete sense.

This is poli board shite, but you should have to pay an inheritance tax.
Begs the question...how many times should a dollar be taxed? If I work my arse off and pay my taxes and want to leave my kids 5 million, that money has already been taxed. The argument to tax it again to give to a government that spends money like drunken sailors for BS is ridiculous. Consider yourself a communist and move to somewhere more befitting your opinions.

Oh wait, that's what someone with balls would have done.
Only the most independent GOP was saying this. I mean GOP members like Rand who dgaf. In the early stages, everyone was worried about Covid-19. It was new and we were ignorant to the mortality rates and etc. Trump was listening to the "experts." I blame Trump for sooo many things, but to vote Biden over Trump is admitting mental short comings. I say this posting on the money board because you can't vote for someone who admits to wanting to kill O & G during a debate and like money.
Only thing I'm thankful for in Biden's behalf is I've made more on puts twice now and faster than I've ever made before. I admit my portfolio is much more than it was during Trump from smart investing / trading but taking spx puts at 4600 had nearly doubled my portfolio risking only 5% of it. So thanks for sucking Biden.. I'm in more spx puts a month out using 10% of my profits. I'll sell at 500%+ and my stop is already moved to 100% profits .
Always bet on Biden failing. Spx back to 4k...at least...
Stock tip: PR is a monster that is just coming alive....been in since 9$ TP is 20$

If you believe in the “rights” of a group of people over individual Rights you are usually a democrat.
If you believe Individual Rights trumps all others you are Republican.
I have found this to be the case lately. The “pandemic” showed where people fell on that line.
However bad DeSantis is as a Presidential candidate, he is the best Governor this nation has seen in a long time according to this metric.

Interesting take, and surprisingly not one I find myself disagreeing with.

So, you’re buying SPX puts at the 4000 strike? What expiration?

1. We're broke
Because of spending by reckless politicians.
How is giving avid spenders more of grandma’s money that has already been taxed going to fix any problems?
How is that different from giving drug addicts more drugs that they didn’t earn or deserve?
Do you honestly believe tax policy should be based on how much politicians want to spend rather than likely consequences?

1. I think the limit is like 13 million depending on the state.
But think of this. If your kids are dumb, sure. Otherwise they will let those investments mature, and turn into 20, or 30 million. All the while getting almost zero percent loans against those investments, and being able to pursue entrepreneurial endeavors with the knowledge they have a safety net. They can take risks where others can't, and if they do well, then they can leave that same money to their kids. Now it's at 100 or 200 million. None of that 195 million has been taxed yet. That's why i think we need it.

This statement reminds me of a convo I had years ago with a co-worker who was a middle of the road Democrat who lived in Connecticut. This is unrelated to the OP.
We got on the topic of racism and what a racist really is instead of what you hear in the media, etc. And he admitted this:
"Northerners (Democrats) love the group, but hate the individual.
Meanwhile southerners (Republicans) love the individual, but hate the group."
When he said that everything made sense.

we're 33t in debt
Its no different than an individual making $200k a year over a long period of time, yet complaining they don't make enough money because they're drowning in credit card debt.
Its not an income problem, its a spending problem.
quote:Agreed. But its going to take an administration and a Congress with the balls to make meaningful spending cuts. Problem is that such legislation would never pass because too many people in Congress are only worried about getting re-elected in perpetuity. Maybe you'll get real spending cuts passed when Congress gets term limits so more politicians would do the right thing vs do the thing that'll get them re-elected.
deal with it.

it's called Noblesse Oblige and it's as old as times. Political correctness makes them feel good about themselves and their status, while doing just a little to make the lives of the poor somewhat better; but not enough to take away any of their own privilege or status.

quote:1) They know that they are all the same.
Why are wealthy people voting Democrat?
2.) They have very complex strategies and teams that protect their wealth.
3) They are smart enough to know that they are all worthless and only idiots fight over the sides. I know that is number 1 too, but thought it needed repeating.

Because people are different. Honestly I do t know why anyone votes democrat. But that their choice.

Nah frick you, you should pay a “dumbass”tax

Which rich people should surrender more of their hard money to support people who don’t give a frick, and care for their families, when there are plenty of blue collar jobs available?
