How much would the federal government shrink if the states reclaimed their rights?

I can’t honestly make a convincing case for the federal government having a bloated FDA, Dept of Agriculture, IRS, CDC, FBI, Dept of Interior, Dept of Education, Dept of Housing and Development, etc.

My opinion is there may be a need for a minimal federal government bureaucracy for each of the aforementioned federal agencies but the heavy lifting and tax revenues to fund these various agencies would be implemented at the state level with state appointees for watchdog groups at the federal level. Think about it, I believe every state has nearly every department at the state level that exists in the federal government.

My guesstimate is the federal government would shrink by no less than 50%.

Much would shock our founders about modern America, but nothing would shock them more than the power of the government in Washington DC.

This is something that I've thought about a lot over the last few weeks.

I've come to this conclusion. The states should enact a law that states that all federal income tax first gets collected by a State entity and then gets distributed to the federal government.

This should effectively give the States the "power of the purse". With that, and enough states adopting that legislation, would enable the states to put more pressure on the federal government.

But, what the hell do I know. Just speculation.

How much could the amount I pay in federal income tax shrink as well.

Imagine what I could then spend that money on which would benefit the economy.

Too much government is the problem!!!!!

They would recognize that our grievances against DC are much more significant than theirs were against England.

It would make their grievances look like a inconvenience, like a flat tire.

You would have to conquer the USA by force of arms before US FedGov would ever relinquish its power back to the States. There's WAY too much generational wealth being produced by the current system for our Rulers to ever give it back.

Think of all of the earthly things that Money, Power and Prestige make available for those who possess those things - you can have anything. Do you like having sex with pubescent girls? You can have that. Do you like being chauffeured everywhere, feted and protected by FedGov-paid armed guards? You can have that, too.

It would be a fight to the absolute death, and, FedGov will burn this whole shite-house to the ground before it would give up the fight.

So, it would be a challenge, should anyone ever try.

Isn’t the federal government the biggest employer in the US?

Amend the 17th Amendment to restore the Senate to its proper role where Senators are appointed by state legislatures and serve at their pleasure.

Significantly enough that the DC leviathan will fight to its last breath to prevent it from ever happening.

I’ve entertained this ^^^^ same belief for years. Each state should have a required tax remittance to the federal government based on a reasonable percentage of the state’s total economic production/output. The state would determine the tax rates of its residents and corporations.
Let the best run states be the model for other states and if the Woke states want to subsidize their own demise with irresponsible tax policies and out of control social justice wokeness….so be it.
