Like the saying goes “I don’t know what happened, we were winning when I left.”

Nam was crazy in 1969 — the first three months I was trying to figure out what all the fuss was about. The next four months I could hardly take a breath. But I always figured the Marine brass had a plan.

The frickin’ Pentagon today has never been more inept. I’d maybe burn my draft card today.

S/F, my brothers.

I never served but I feel great sadness for the men who put their asses in the line of fire, risking their lives, fighting for a constitutional republic that has been nearly destroyed by the compromised and corrupt enemies within.

However, I would discourage my 3 sons from serving in the current US Military.

What about something like the Air Guard? Army national guard? Just curious, I have a family member currently in the latter and another considering the former.

I retired in 2016. I don't even think about our military at all. I enjoyed it but it was time to retire;it wasn't the same military I joined in 1995.

I have no military paraphernalia, stickers, hats, etc. that isn't in a spare bedroom closet. There isn't a military base for 3 hours drive. I bet outside of a handful of people in the county, no one around here even knows I'm a retired First Sergeant (not that they would care anyway) and I like it that way.

My family has 5 generation of having served, including a grandson that is currently a Navy pilot.I was in Seabees, never went to Viet Nam but I did twice volunteer. For whatever reason they didn’t call me.

I always spoke highly of the Navy to my grandsons and encouraged them to join.No more. I have 19 year old grandson going to college on academic scholarship that was approached by a AF recruiter.I told him hell no,tell the recruiter you were born male and intend to stay that way and you aren’t going to apologize for being born white.
I am not rascist,I’ve worked with blacks in military and afterwards. Many I liked and respected.
Likewise gays,I worked with them and some were great.Actually,in the Navy there were gay guys.No one really cared as long as they didn’t hit on us.We didn’t report them.

This deal about military paying for transition surgery for transgenders is outrageous and disgusting.

My main reservation is that I feel white heterosexual males mare going to be discriminated against for promotions ,duty assignments ,etc.
I’ve also read on Navy forums that they spend more time on diversity training!critical race theory and such than they do on war- fighting skills. It’s not a safe environment when the training is half-assed.

What’s crazy is as soon as these mentally deranged people go on the HRT they become “non-deployable”. So not only are our tax payers dollars covering an elective surgery they can’t leave CONUS!

Signs were on the wall went I got out in early 2010.

I'm not embarrassed for the enlisted ranks. The NCO corps will always do their best with the hand they are dealt with. The E4 mafia will always figure out ways to sham like always.

I am embarrassed in general though. Leadership in mid officer and above is eroding.

It’s a leadership issue, installed by politicians. Politicians voted for by the American people.

I’m not embarrassed for the military, I’m embarrassed for my country which I love dearly.

I was in the Infantry from 2009-2013. some of my buddies are still in and are platoon sergeants and first sergeants. they are saying that the shite we used to do to privates doesn't fly anymore. privates are now allowed to get away with a lot of things because you can't beat the living shite out of them in the woodline.

I remember my first day at my unit, went for a 5 mile ruck run with my squad and got smoked by my team leader. the GWOT days were fun, if you were a new guy who didn't have a combat infantrymans badge or expert infantrymans badge you were going to have a tough time.

Because we let them. After Tet in 1968, the viet cong were defeated and obliterated. The NVA did not launch a new major offensive until after the US army infantry maneuver battalions and the marine corps regiments were removed. From 1969 to 1970 (while I was there) we defeated them on the ground every time the NVA tried anything and in a major way. In April of 1972 after most all American combat arms units left, the NVA launched a major offensive all over the country and were fought to a standstill by the Army of the Republic of Vietnam and obliterated by American air support. It took three more years for Hanoi to regroup and when in 1975 they launched the main final effort, there was no longer any American air support or military supplies to oppose them. That is the historical truth and anything else you’ve ever read or been taught is false.
