Some people get too deep in interpretation, it wasn't intended to be a super difficult thing to figure out, and it's not.

Just curious, do you want help? or are you bashing the word?

Which word in that sentence is giving you trouble?

Haven’t read the Bible in several years.

Haven't you memorized it? Good Muslims memorize the Qur'an.

I don't. I don't take the Bible literally. I like the general message but that's about it. I do like a good sermon. Methodist sermons.

With all due respect friend most of that sounds like a bunch of malarkey and arrogant to boot. The word incarnate himself read the Bible regularly as he was in the temple teaching where it was customary to read it aloud. If devoted and wise men over the course of nearly two thousand years have studied and disseminated the Bible, there is still something there you and your father failed to hash out on that camping trip.

I’m glad you can recall the “really important” verses. I think all of it is important because all of it is inspired of God and is profitable for reproof, doctrine, correction, and instruction in righteousness. Many of the holy men of God who spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost were beaten, cast out, imprisoned, stoned, and martyred for those parts you presumably find not so important.

You really know what men care about by what they make time for. There are certain things they will do come hell or high-water like make it to that fishing trip. If someone truly loves God’s word then they will make time for it and spend time in it.

I’m glad you conquered it a half century ago, though.

The books are put in chronology order when they were written? Or by the historical account it covers. From what I read job was written first.

I personally think they are already ordered very thoughtfully with the Books of Moses, the historical books, poetic books, major prophets, and minor prophets. They seem to follow the timeline as close as they can within each category. Plus, Malachi is the perfect ending before starting the NT because you get the prophecy of John the Baptist in that book.

Well, I started and am almost finished with the Old Testament. I’m plodding along. So, not every day, to answer your question.

I don’t read mine every day, but I do pray daily/read a couple of specific Bible verses and read a daily devotional which has passages associated with it.

I don't see how so many on here claim that they read the bible, but at the same time we see so many vile, hateful, and downright ugly arse posts and threads on here. It must be a different bible being past around than the one I know of.

i don't know if you'd call it regularly, but I do read it at least once or twice a week.
