Do you see the irony in this statement?

Thanks for the reply, and critique. I agree that his policies have no chance of working. To desperate people, however, I think his appeal is really strong. I would worry much more about Mamdani than Newsom in 2028.

Why do you think his voters are "despearate" and what do you think has made them so?
For the record, I'm not discounting pure perception over reality, as I belive that drives a lot of voters as much as anything.

Thanks for pointing out the misspelling. I think you already summed up the main point...perception over reality. People don't want to blame themselves for the consequences of poor choices. Mamdani frees them from that reckoning.

And yet you didn't listen to Mamdani's speech, so you have no idea what he actually said.
Is repeating this the theme of this thread? People tell you they don't like him and you remind them they didn't listen to him. Is there something we need to know that you can tell us?

You just admitted you hadn't watched the speech. NOW you know that he was insincere???

Well, OP, tell us what you love about it.

while I agree with you, again, you somehow believe this makes Mamcommie's appeal unique.
you've now attached Newsome to the process (vs. Johnson, Bass etc).
Do you really think Mamcommie's message is different from Newsome's message and ACTIONS.

Incredible speech. Definitely feels like democratic socialism is finally moving mainstream. People are tired of living under the boot of billionaires, while the wealth of working people continues to evaporate into the hands the ultra rich who control every facet of our government. They got far too comfortable being greedy and power hungry, and they’re gonna reap the whirlwind before long.

I listened to the whole thing. Clearly a communist.

It's going to be Hunger Games and we live in the districts.

I'm not agreeing with him. I'm just pointing out that HIS SPEECH wasn't the hate fest that people on here (who didn't watch it) said it was.
One of his biggest applause lines was in attacking antisemitism.
He's a communist. His entire existence is based on hate.

Hey, apparently you care a whole lot about the poor and middle income. So, how is purchasing power created in the first place? You know, the lack of which makes one poor.

Never seen one that wasn't.
Which is why I judge on what they do.

Agreed...but a well-spoken and consistent communist. I think that authenticity goes a long way with younger voters who are struggling financially.

All the fricking foreigners in NYC got him elected. It’s such a shame and brings light to the things Elon and Trump were saying last year as true.

The statement was this:
Imagine thinking a Manhattan real estate tycoon born with a silver spoon in his mouth, who went to Wharton, and used to hobnob with the hollywood elite, was going to be a working class savior?
