My Grandfather, who was the bluest of Blue Dog's, and honestly didn't have a racist bone in his body, would be rolling in his box.
My FIL is an interesting case study. He is a devout Dem, a union man, a Diasabled WWII vet (Okinawa campaign), and something of a generational racist.
He probably wouldnt let a black person on his property but he voted for Cleo Fields for Gov. He is a devout big labor Dem.
The mere mention of George Bush could push him into a tirade so passionate he could pass out.
He is 94 and lost his hearing at Okinawa so he doesnt watch much TV anymore. I dont know what he knows about what is going on now and I m not bringing it up. He would be absolutely appalled at the actions of the Dem politicians if you could present it to him with no R or D beside peoples names. But he will go to his grave a D forever...

My father is a huge republican that “held his nose” and voted Hillary the last election and will be voting Trump this time around. I think that is a larger group than people realize as well.

Because anyone with a working brain understands that none of those things are free.

Minimum wage is a farce. No one forces anyone to take a job and raising minimum wage is like the number 1 thing government can do to cause inflation. Meaning prices just go up and the min raise hike actually hurt everyone that didnt get get that bump in pay.

Free education
Education is free all the way up until adulthood. Why are taxpayers responsible for anyone that wishes to continue education past that point?

Healthcare
Obamacare tripled my families healthcare expenses and we have worse coverage. I knew it would happen when he swore on national television that it would not. If I knew it......that lying piece of isht knew it. Worst president since Jimmy Carter.

I've been skeptical of these anecdotal stories of people getting red pilled. However, I now can add my own anecdote. A "friend" that I have known for decades is a retired school teacher. She was a "Karen" before we knew what a Karen was. She taught at magnet schools her entire career and has always been a big advocate for the "disenfranchised" and those with alternate life styles, etc. She is still a big JBE backer but because she thought Hillary was part of the corrupt ruling class, she voted 3rd party in 2016. Now that she is retired she has been able to watch all the hearings and Kavanaugh was a turning point for her to question the DEMS. Now with the looting and burning and the DEMS refusing to condemn it..she said this is what the entire country will be like. So, I said which 3rd party candidate are you going to vote for...she said; "Oh, no I'm voting for Trump as much as he disgusts me." Now I actually know someone who has awakened.

At the same time, I'd ask life-long Republicans on this site, are they appalled that their party is the home of White nationalism and bigotry

I’m glad our party finally realized that we are in the final stage of Capitalism. It’s failure will open the door for a more just system. Progressives lead every positive cultural shift. We will lead this one as well.

Because these are not real. Nothing is free. It’s payed by increasing taxes.

More just for who? Taking from hard workers and giving to those with less work ethic is not just. Taking from the couple that put themselves through school and held off on kids until they were financially stable and giving to the uneducated single mom that had 3 kids before she was 21 is not just.
There is not a system more just than one in which you get what you earn.

You’ll need to provide one single verified example for me, then I’ll respond. Thanks.

If someone supports the downfall of capitalism, why don’t they simply relocated to Venezuela or Cuba or North Korea? The socialist nirvana is right there for the taking. You could buy a one way plane ticket to Havana or other socialist wonderlands.

Yep. I left the party and am not looking back.
