Maybe it’s because we have been categorically labeled as racists for 2 years by both Hillary voters (explicitly) and a compliant media (implicitly). It wears on you, especially when it is doubly false. Not all (or anywhere close to most) Trump voters are racist, and there are plenty of racists on the other side that never get called out for their bullshite.
So, yeah, when one side gets to falsely claim that shibboleth, we are going to push back just as often and just as vociferously.
