Voting for either like I’ve repeatedly said on this board.

Trump had "big money backers" that were swamp creatures too. I'm sure you will overlook that though.
He ran chiefly on his own money, and was not beholden to anyone. He wasn't going to turn down any money for his campaign, but he wasn't going to change his path for the donation either. Trump WAS an outsider, and absolutely is an outlier in terms of candidates that want to get rich off of their office.

Desantis, as an executive, has been a fricking rockstar.
No denying that. I'm not anti-Desantis YET. He could easily make that happen, though.

You and the GA posters probably have some of the most important votes because you live in the most important states that will determine the winner.

If Trump wins the nom, probably Libertarian.
Proving my personal observation that Republicans will always sacrifice the good for the perfect, and thus in the grand scheme will always come out the party with the most losses

Nothing could be more American than having principles and voting for them. I -hate- the philosophy that we always have to vote for our side just to beat the other side. If our system works, it will work because of people that vote for their own reasons and thoughts... and not out of fear of losing to the other side.
But you aren't wrong. The right has more principled voters, which isn't surprising at all.

I like both of them but I feel more confident Trump is not a rhino then Desantis. One problem Desantis will have is winning Florida. He is super popular in Florida but are Floridians willing to give him up for 2 years as Governor? I don’t think so . If y do was smart and not corrupt he would wait for 2028. If he gives up the Governor seat in Florida to run for president and loses he will not have a platform to promote his self for 2028.

The most principled bunch of losers in history

In the end, you can blame the forefathers for setting this up and having faith in us as a populace that would care.
Again, you're not wrong. We will not all unilaterally vote just to win and keep the other side out.
The folly is in believing there's 2 sides. There's not. Just two diff sets of pimps.

Agreed. Principled voting is virtuous, but it's simply mental masturbation when the no politician or political candidate is actually principled. They are merely espousing those qualities that they feel will rally the constituency they believe they have the better chance of success with

*sigh*
An absolute truth and an even worse tragedy. So, we are either fked or we are fked slightly more slowly. I'd rather throw my vote where i want to and wash my hands from taking part of it. I did enough of that from my teens until my early 40's, which I am now in.
I am just unsubscribed except that I WILL go vote and let them know I am here, and I will nominate Charlie Brown if I must every time. I will never vote for someone I think is compromised ever again. Took me half my life to see it all so clearly.
i never thought i'd be this way long ago. but here i am. it's interesting how views change in a lifetime.

I'll vote for any R nominee that campaigns on stopping mass illegal immigration, is against amnesty for illegals, who is for some sensible guardrails for election security and integrity, who is for congressional term limits and strict lobby reform, who is for legislation that bans insider trading by members of congress, who pledges to seek a peaceful resolution to the Ukraine/Russia shite show, who is for investigating and prosecuting the DC Swamp Skunks and their Bureaucratic State partners who have put this nation in peril with their blatant and unashamed corruption..........
Now, is there anyone qualified?

To try to sincerely ascribe Trump as a part of the establishment fks is intellectually dishonest and beneath this board's IQ. Terrible attempt here, man. This may work on DU.

Let's make this as simple as possible. Whose turn is it in 2024 and why?

For all the complaining we do about politicians, the citizens of this country created this mess.

Let's not. You're clearly here to keep playing a semantics game. I'm not interested in a silly non-issue debate.

We did not create this mess from my perspective, but we are charged with cleaning it. It is our responsibility MORE than it's our "leaders'" responsibility.
