This term and Trump’s next term, 8 years.

There were lots of people who said “all Trump’s ever done is hosted a tv reality show” as well. Maybe you were or are even one of them, I don’t know. In any event, that line of thinking has been greatly diminished, for obvious reasons. Not that I dismiss it out of hand. I don’t really know, actually. I’m just one fella with one opinion, just like the rest of us.

He'll have a few assistants available. He'll do fine.

Especially if he starts chopping trannies and other DEI scum from the ranks.

Trump is the chosen leader that represents the will of more people than yours. People fall into line or GTFO. Elections have consequences, and you are feeling that because your shitty values were amplified by the dying propaganda arms of the leftists for too long.

I think Pete is the worst of the hires. Sec Def was not the job he needed. He's woefully underqualified for the position.

I have no issue with giving him a lesser position where the stakes aren't so high.

This is the mentality that keeps old arse people in power when they need to retire and robs young people of the experience they need to succeed.

Old experienced people need to understand that they need to step aside and hand it over to lesser experienced young people so they can grow in the role

He has no qualifications other than having been a soldier. In which case there's hundreds of thousands of others who could be SECDEF

So you know better than the president who nominated him and the senators who confirmed him. Please present your credentials.

The SoD is a go between for the Executive branch and the heads of the military departments. Trump is making a cabinet he can trust unlike 2016. I'm sure Trump got all kinds of advice from the GOPe and the MiC. I wouldn't have taken it either. The most difficult enemy Pete will face is unnamed sources and back stabbing career wonks at the Pentagon. I envy no one alone against the MiC. He needs all the prayers he can get.

It's not about knowledge. Everyone knows he's underqualified. There's no debate. Trump and senators choose to ignore that in favor of pushing through Trump's pick because he's going to "drain the swamp".

When the rubber meets the road and some serious shite is going down in the situation room, "draining the swamp" is not a needed skill set.

Tell us your estimation of the percent of high ranking officials since 1776 who have been raging alcoholics.

With all due respect to those good fighting men, I'd wager less than 1% of them could get into and graduate from an Ivy League university.

So what?

Nanci Pelosi has made it in Congress since 1987 and there isn't a bigger drunk in Washington.
