How is wiping out 30 acres of nature to install solar better for the environment?

Where are we deforesting to install solar arrays? Most that I have seen seem to be constructed on tracts that are already barren.

Many are built on desert lands. They aren't barren and there is wildlife that depends on these type of habitats. I'm no expert so I don't know how much of an impact it has, but I know people that make good money moving around desert tortoise and looking for endangered birds on the construction sites.

After a quick google search I was surprised at the amount of solar energy use in eastern states. I guess there may be some deforestation.

Solar and shade don’t mix. Spent the last 8 years (prior to moving to Alaska in May) 100% off grid. Great to see GOP putting more money into NREA projects as well. Solar is a no brainer. No moving parts, low maintenance, relatively cheap, and can be used in ways that have dual purpose (parking shade structure).

I like this kind of idea, but how many rooftops would need to be used for solar panels in a metro area to make solar power relevant?

Anyone who understands albido and is also concerned with global warming would oppose solar arrays on the principal of physics. Say you turn 30 acres of high albedo dessert into solar arrays with the albido of tarmac, have you actually gained anything warming-wise over a new tech natural gas plant? Same thing with reflective solar arrays, you turn solar radiation that would have bounced back into space directly into extra heat that is now trapped. Not to mention all the environmental horrors associated with the mining involved in the manufacture of solar panels

It seems crazy that democrats allow this . They are helping companies make more money and killing the environment. Why not use all the government solar money for residents? It’s because democrats don’t want to help average working class citizens .

I hate to see what could be farm land or forest littered with those panels. There’s a good bit of it happening in my neck of the woods in south GA.
