For those who keep up with local politics, how has Sid Edwards done as mayor so far? Trump and Landry dominate the headlines, so Sid gets lost in the shuffle, at least to me.

Not doing anything crazy, not doing anything scandalous, seems to be fairly competent, definitely a bigger focus on public safety than the last administration. Current mayor seems like a step in the right direction, but hasn’t really done anything radical yet.

Hasn’t really done anything good or obviously bad either.

I do wish he would come out harder on crime and homelessness. But he’s still early in his tenure, I guess he still could.

Landry has been the bigger disappointment for sure.

He hasn't came off as maga. I'd prefer my local government to stay away from us politics, unlike landry.

Putting out the massive dumpster fire of a budget he was left by the idiot before him.

He won't get to do anything on his agenda. The budget is pretty much the entire focus because it's so bad right now.

He's been an utter disappointment. I can't think of a single thing he's done, let alone improved. I guess I can say "thanks" for not being SWB or another liberal community activist, but why would I thank him for that? He was elected to do things differently from the previous admin. Yet all anyone seems to be able to say is he hasn't really done shite. I don't consider that a rousing endorsement.

Like the OP, I thought we’d see more of him in the news (e.g. spearheading economic initiatives, etc.), but he’s far from an utter disappointment to me. What were you expecting that is within his power to do?

He is doing fine trying to wade through the SH!tshow he inherited.

EBR parish is just lucky that the St. George movement came around because we were about 10 years from a total collapse of the fraudulent system the dems and the old Br money had in place.

Eventually, as more people left the parish the money they were stealing from St. George would have dried up.

He kinda sucks, but he's better than a third Broome administration would be.

He could get more involved with and active in finding the money- through whatever means necessary- to fund BRPD and the DA's office so they can address BR crime. I realize he has a budget problem, but he hasn't been very active in addressing it IMO. Sid is basically going to work and sitting in his office. Thats it. He's showing up, but he's not really contributing anything. No economic initiatives. No public safety initiatives. No education initiatives. Hell, he doesn't even get out and attempt to promote EBR. He just goes to the office and punches in. punches out at whatever time and goes home.

He is dealing with major budget issues, crime and other problems that Broome and the metro council created out of blind ignorance or petty politics. I can see the River Center contracts becoming the next debacle. He also is never going to be like Kip, a personality with an intelligent vision for what BR can be. Broome got us so far off course I don’t think BR can ever correct that.

My question is have the official boundaries of St. George been set? I know SWB was a real stick-in-the-mud on that issue.

I thought they were going forward with turning it into more of a traditional convention center and sending the large events like concerts, etc. to the proposed new LSU arena?
