How good are AR15 type rifles for hunting?

I have never been a hunter and obviously I'm not well versed on firearms. I saw an article (from what I assume to be a biased source ) claiming they are terrible as a hunting firearm. Is this true?

Depends on what you're hunting. Small to medium game they're fine. Make great hog guns.

I know some people who use them for wolf, coyote, fox...

and i hog hunt in a stand. or trap them... or shoot them when i spook them walking.

People claim for hogs but unless you are hunting from a helicopter in West Texas then you aren't using an AR. If you are using an AR in the woods for hunting then you are more often than not an idiot and nobody wants to be around you.

Lightweight, low recoil, many calibers, easily customized with grips, stocks, sights....yeah terrible for hunting.
