How does India, a country of 1.3 billion people, have around 1,000 coronavirus deaths?

So what explains this? Is it hydroxychloroquine? Even with low testing rate per million (I get testing a significant percentage there would be hard due to the high population) but then only 4% of their test comes back positive. Should the states here do a more strict lockdown as well? I mean if it can work there with an extremely high population density, hygienic issues, and a more fragile health care system, then it should work here.

A lot of their population takes hydroxychloroquine to ward off malaria.

I assumed it was the warm environment but then I saw a lot of similar places had high numbers like Brazil, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, etc. So, either India doesn’t have the resources to test and document the actual cases, or living in a sewer creates natural immunity.

Because they have no financial incentive to cook the numbers.

Aren’t there millions of homeless people in India? How do you lock down a country in that condition? It seems like coronavirus is more of a first/second world problem.

They don't have hand sanitizers everywhere. They don't spray lysol on everything. They don't run around wiping everything down with anti-bacterial wipes. You know... the shite that Americans do... and have been doing... for decades.

Indian people have acquired immunities and their bodies can fight off all kinds of shite that would bring 90% of Americans to their knees.

Survival of the fittest? That's India baby.

Many still wipe their arse with their hand in India. Coronavirus needs to get in the back of the line.

I don’t think it’s possible for them too fudge the numbers considering how things work there.even if they are underestimating the number of cases, how is it the death count of flu like symptoms haven’t gone up like they did in Italy, Iran, or USA. Nor have their hospitals been overrun. They don’t have Italy’s health care, nor is the country a theocracy with no free media like Iran, nor do they have the financial resources like we do here. They can’t hide the bodies because their media not to mention world media would be all over it like they were in Italy or Iran. Also the data is taken from each state in India and not all states are ruled by the same political party. It’s like saying republicans, democrats, and all the media from left wing to right wing are all in on the covering up the real death count in the US. And then there is social media, if bodies were dropping like flies because of this virus I am sure social media would pick that up since many there have internet.

Edit: based on this site they have tested over 770k people. Out of a billion that may not be much but in another article I read they aren’t doing random testing so much as testing groups that are most likely in the high risk category and even then it’s a 4% positive rate.
