We must save our democracy by defeating populism.

That’s the argument in a nutshell from the TDS infected. It makes no sense.

I'm not sure who you think you're arguing against but I haven't seen anyone make this claim that you just imagined out of thin air

Do we? Clinton would've won in 2016 with democracy

Populism can take many shapes and forms. There's no principles to it.

Do you think democracy and populism are the same thing?

Historically, does populism lead to more control by the people or less in the long run?

Ok, let’s reword it like this then:

How does one’s conclusion that populism (just that single term standing alone, because that’s simply the way it’s nearly always referenced), is an abomination reconcile with one’s opinion on democracy?? In other words, what views of democracy must likely follow, if one has a notably contemptible opinion of “populism” force certain views of “democracy” by op

You have no answers. And everyone knows I’m smarter than you. So step off, son.

All I know is the current iteration of these terms is that Trump’s populists support is a threat to democracy which we do not have in the U.S.

More control. Sometimes it led to terrible results and sometimes not.

Trump's only a populist on the campaign trail. He's a moderate Republican.

A populist would have

Built a wall - Trump didn't
Deport illegals - Trump barely deported any
Shrink the Gov. - Trump didn't
Control spending - Trump didn't
Clean out the DOJ/FBI - Trump didn't
Clean out the DOE - Trump didn't
Avoid the neo-cons - Trump didn't
etc...

Trump pretends to care about the ordinary citizen but spent more of his time with Bushies, Neo-cons, Democrats and establishment types. He did their bidding while you guys focused on Q shite and made excuses.

No one (virtually) on this board has been saying that.

I'm not a huge fan of democracy, seems to me that populism is a faction of democracy to me.

True.

He's a moderate Republican.

Because we live in a constitutional republic and it’s difficult for any politician to make drastic changes under this form of government.

I know it’s not this board. When I think of Trump being a threat to democracy my thoughts go back to comments made by Joe, Mika, Hillary and Biden.

Wouldn't know it by your lackluster writing abilities.

Maybe you're brilliant but you suck at communicating

Well the left always calls the US a Democracy BUT we are not a Democracy. We are a Constitutional Republic. Ok so then one might say a Republic is a form of Democracy…sure if one is totally forgetting THE CONSTITUTION! We are multiple layers removed from a Democracy ON PURPOSE.

The argument gets super conflated by their feeble minds.
