They're just going to print money to cover it. Our political system is absolutely incapable of anything else.

As a working class American, I can say that we bought insurance from the govt. insuring a minimal income in our advanced age. What the numbers here don't show is how many workers die before the get back a dime. We buried two 64 year old's within the last couple of months and many more around retirement age. We lose them in the 40 to 60 year old range by the handfuls constantly where we are. I am sure this goes on everywhere. The system took this into account when they handed out this money yo those who never paid in a dime.

This is exactly what you can expect from someone who doesn’t understand the true argument.

I don’t want what I put in. I want the value of the money I put in over time.

See if I’d invested over 40 years what was put into SS the return would be exponential, not simply what I put in.

Instead we have someone who only understands the incorrect comparison.

I've been telling my senior friends this, but my Medicare numbers aren't that drastic. There's also some medical billing monkey business. My senior friends don't like to hear it. I think the ones who haven't prepared for their golden years can pool their cash and room together like they did in college.

What part of "numbers calculated using expected present value" don't you understand?

Yep, replacement value, not the value of input.

Does the taxes paid in on the chart ($625,000), include the interest the scammers are getting from stealing our money?

Social Security is a great example of why a National Healthcare Plan is a joke.

The Feds suck at everything they do.

By the way, Social Security is NOT an entitlement.

Welfare, food stamps, Section 8 Housing etc.... are entitlements.

I knew that SS was a ponzi scheme when I started working in radio at 17. But I had no choice. If we had choice I would have opted out and invested when I was making decent money (around age 25).
I realize that many people would not have done that. What about them? Well, there was a lot of US history before SS.
Those who did not prepare and became totally destitute relied on family, church, charity...or rotted in the gutter and died.
I think we should go back to that system.

Nobody truly says the terms are acceptable.

Short of MANY retirees pitch forking DC with the high risk of going to the gulag, getting ran over by tanks, or shot at by fighter jets and nukes as Biden has said.

And no representative's rep the actual people anymore. What are people to do?

The COLA raises recently given to SS recipients were slashed with tricky math. Leading to maybe an 80 dollar increase.
