This dude is a "historian" yet spouts rhetoric about marginal tax rates in the 50s, without acknowledging effective tax rates. He's either the worst historian ever or has an agenda that is unthwarted by facts.

Maybe I should just put up the middle finger as well, but I am completely confused, after watching several of the most significant countries of the world give socialism a try and the death toll, people like this are given a second to rehash these ideas.

I work with a lot of Dutch. One of them unironically sent me this today.

They’re all like this. No tact. No “ok let’s be polite and work together to a common goal”. They’re always pissing each other off and pissing off other people.

No international company that I know of employs Dutchmen as salesmen. It’s a cultural thing.

But he really virtue signaled the shite out of Tucker. Good for him I guess.

Tucker may be completely insufferable, but Tucker getting pwned is gold. Direct YT link, from "I'd take my hat off to you" to "Go frick yourself"

I’m saying he could have been cordial as Tucker was giving him a friendly environment to put forth his case to a different audience.

Like a true Dutchman, he took the opportunity to mouth off. I think they’re a distasteful people in general aside from the few people I’m friends with.

As an aside, I think his assumption of prosperity coming from higher taxes is a drive-by understanding of economic history and generally a myth.

The Dutch are like this because they are losers and lost their empire. There are fricking unions in their armed forces.

Hmm. I certainly think that the guy is a douche, but I have a different experience with the Dutch. Although my experience is limited.

ignoring taxation.

I'm going to be really polite and just tell you that you aren't very intelligent, with a side helping of lazy

No where in history has the idea that the producers pay for the lazy ever worked. We have thousands of years of historical data, and it just doesn't work. It ends up with the system being gamed, and the "tax collectors" becoming the new elite, which ALWAYS ends up in a bloody revolution. Always! (see the Americas, see the French, see the Magna Carta, see the Russians, see Haiti.

It will never work.

If you want something, simply work for it. Or live in poverty. There is no other solution

I will say this: if I were having someone audit something for me, I’d hire a Dutchman.

I have never heard of him until today. But yes regurgitating Marx and Trotsky in the 21st century pretty much makes you a moron, but I will try really hard to be open minded.

Real talk. I was in a bar in Rome last year while on vacation and this random Dutch count just started blabbering at me about how the moon landing was all propaganda and wasn't that impressive. Really bizarre moment

Yeah I agree that Tucker gets the L here. That guy was trolling hard and Tucker shouldn't have risen to the bait.

What a naive and adolescent set of ideas. This is something a 14 year old thinks of.

Bergman is just the other side of the anti-establishment, populist coin like Bernie and aoc. These people are purists so rather than argue on common ground with someone like Carlson he sought to score points with his side. Tucker played his part, he shoulda just ended the interview and then provided commentary about why it was a failure.
