Stage 4 lung cancer life expectancy can vary considerably among different people, even among people who have the same type and stage of lung cancer.2? Let's explore these variables in more depth.

Type and Location

Stage 4 lung cancer encompasses several lung cancer types. It also includes cancers that have spread to only one distant region or those that have spread extensively.

Survival can also be affected by the genetic characteristics of the tumor, with cancers that have "targetable mutations," such as ALK-positive lung cancer, ROS1 mutations, and EGFR mutations, being more likely to respond to the newer targeted therapies for lung cancer. Cancers that have a high tumor mutation burden on testing are more likely to respond to immunotherapy drugs.

Looking at subtypes of lung cancer when estimating prognosis can't be understated. For example, a December 2018 study found that people who had ALK positive stage 4 lung cancer had a median survival rate of 6.8 years with the right care, even when brain metastases were present.

very well health

The unfortunate reality is Rush probably has less than 2 years left. I wish it weren't true, but it is what it is.

Are you basing that on anything?

Have you read that somewhere? I can't find any info on the type of lung cancer, possible mutations, where the cancer has spread, etc

Fortunately in Rush's case, money buys better treatment (full-on 24hr care that includes dietary monitoring) and better treatment like that, helps create better outcomes.

Not really, unless your'e talking about being able to travel to places like MD Anderson, but then thousands do that every year.

It is likely non small cell lung cancer.

quote:

Occult stage: Cancer cells can be picked up in the mucus you cough up. Your tumor can’t be seen on imaging scans or a biopsy. It’s also called hidden cancer.
Stage 0: Your tumor is very small. Cancer cells haven’t spread into your deeper lung tissues or outside your lungs.
Stage I: Cancer is in your lung tissues but not your lymph nodes.
Stage II: The disease may have spread to your lymph nodes near your lungs.
Stage III: It has spread further into your lymph nodes and the middle of your chest.
Stage IV: Cancer has spread widely around your body. It may have spread to your brain, bones, or liver.

Stage 4 is terminal. How much time, who knows.

God bless Rush. I lost my mother to stage 4 lung cancer in 2017. frick cancer.

Not just that. Outcomes improve on carefully regimented diet/medication, etc. Most people can't afford somebody to watch them 24/7, prepare specific dietary plans/additional medication and supplements (meformin, DCA, hyperbaric oxygen treatments, Rapamycin, eliminating exogenous BHB)

Depends HEAVILY on the type of lung cancer it is, as well as genetics of the Ca.

Absolutely.
Based on limited info, this is unfortunately very similar to RBG's prognosis

Yes.
1. The overall five-year relative survival rate for stage 4 lung cancer is 4.7 percent. (At stage 4 it's spread)
2. Rush releasing the information about his illness. He would have kept it quiet if he had more time. He's not a man that would want sympathy if he thought he could beat this quietly. He was at a point where he couldn't hide something wrong with him for long.
3. The speed in which Trump publicly awarded Rush. It's not something he could wait 6 months to do, considering Rush's declining health. He wanted Rush to be able to attend in public.
4. Rush's physical appearance.

Ya know, moneyg had a damn good question for you, and while (some) of your quote above is conjecture, it is damned fine conjecture. Upvotes for both of you.

I tend to think along the lines you have just outlined, and I hope we are both wrong for now.

I'm not a fan, but Jobs lived 8 years following his pancreatic cancer diagnosis (during which he helped change the world with personal technological inovation).

And that was despite stupidly ignoring advice from his team of doctors by becoming a vegan, relying on homeopathic remedies and delaying surgery.

Edited because I was wrong about his type of cancer.
