I get your points. But if our shipping lanes are friked with what are we supposed to do? I say get out of the Middle East altogether. But if we have national interests what can we do? Become energy independent and we can leave.

Keeping trading lanes open is not Neocon Policy; this has been US policy since the Jefferson Administration. The Neocon foreign policy we object to is that of undermining foreign regimes through clandestine policy, installing our puppets; then getting sucked into wars in the region. THAT’s what Trump is trying to end.

I’d suggest not framing your entire worldview, meaning any and all (every) situations and issues that pop up, through the lens of your disgust with all things Trump. You clearly approach every topic with the primary intention of negative criticism and quite often insult of Trump and all Trump supporters, by extension. Your worldview will open up nicely if you can manage to fight the ever present Trump urge.

A heavy and sustained air campaign won’t work either though. You would need to put a lot of men on the ground to prevent the Houthi from firing at ships in the Red Sea.
