Rate increases averaging from 16.6 percent to 35.5 percent are on tap in 2018 for Louisianians who buy health insurance through a federal marketplace as Republicans look to dismantle Obamacare.
With the outcome of those efforts in Congress uncertain and delayed up to two weeks, insurers are factoring in proposed changes that they say are inflating what would be single-digit premium increases into double-digits for 2018.

It's ok, theres a secret plan in the works and it's going to be the best.

Obamacare has quadrupled my health insurance.
Why do I have to be punished for being healthy? Why do I have to pay for and subsidize health insurance for people who's habits/diet/lifestyle directly contribute to their health deficiencies.

Wait. I've been told that the Republican plan was going to lower premiums. Trump said so 100s of times on the campaign trail and since getting elected. How is this possible?

A law that requires bailout money to keep rates down is a fundamentally dysfunctional law

Cause people voted for some Democrats, and they will rob your arse to get votes from other people. That's Politics, that's how it works. Don't think it's one-sided either, but this one wasn't the Repubs fault, but they have a chance to F'it up , too.

We need a law that addresses skyrocketing health care costs and not just diverting $$ around.
Until then prepare to take it in the shorts with Obamacare, Trumpcare, (insert name)care, etc. There is no easy fix unless point #1 is addressed.

For those of us like me who lost their old plan, and who had to pay 80-100% more for health insurance for their family, I really don't feel sorry for anyone having to pay just 16-35% more.
You still have a ways to go.

Perhaps the minority of insured who have govt. subsidized insurance are going to pay more, but those like me who pay the full amount may save?
Who knows, Obama screwed things up so bad, and it wasn't fully thought out, we all might pay more and more because once the govt. gets involved look out.

He still hasn't caught up to obama's lies. Health care is all on that son of a bitch

If we only had more money given to insurance companies by the government, premiums would not be so high.

just the exchanges are going up. when a high percentage of high risk enter the exchanges the actuary tables show high risk in payout so rates must go up.
so you want healthy people to subsidize the high risk?

Insurance companies mitigate risk. The uncertainty of whether or not healthcare reform gets passed, and what that healthcare reform will look like, causes increases in premiums. This isn't rocket science.
My biggest issue with Congress and the White House is healthcare. Allowing Obamacare to remain the law of the land while you have complete control of both chambers and the POTUS means you're condoning Obamacare.

There is literally no plan on the table where healthy people don't subsidize the high risk, either through tax payer funded subsidies to Insurers or through their actual premiums.
It's the only realistic system where insurance would be even somewhat affordable to people who have pre-existing conditions.

Allowing high risk users to game the system doesn't lower costs.

because so many went uninsured when they should have been insured.

That's not true.

ACA will crash and burn because increasing rates are the primary impact.
Why does Cassidy state he can't support the proposed bill, yet he did not say what's wrong with the ACA in Louisiana in his town hall meetings?

The reality is this: whenever government gets involved in something they have no business being involved in, they are going to screw it up big-time.
The Dems started this serious mess and now it's so screwed up that nobody can fix this quagmire.
The government needs to remove itself totally and completely from the healthcare business.
You are NOT entitled to healthcare.
