You can thank Pookie (aka NOBAMA) for that. His so-called Affordable Healthcare Act (which was not affordable) destroyed the best healthcare delivery system in history.

I'll say it - Barack Obama and his crooked pal Joe Biden have done huge damage to the country.

So the disaster that looms just over the horizon now - that ticking time bomb we call the National Debt. Lordy.

Yes exactly what we need. More political theater without actual consequences.

Sounds like those "who the frick shite is that high" are subsidizing your premium as well.

You should certainly be complaining about people pointing out the problem.

It’s insane what we pay and not even have the outcomes that countries that pay far less do. But we’ve got to preserve the health insurance company model at all cost for reasons I guess

Right.
That is why the folks from those countries who can afford it come to the US for care ... because our outcomes are so poor.

They whine about as much as teachers.

WTF is a nurse gonna do if we cut pay a bit?
What skill set do they have that's otherwise marketable?

They are overpaid.

The healthcare lobby has created some scarcity through credentialism and gatekeeping. Limiting med school spots for example, while keeping our qualified white and Asian kids and letting in non qualified blacks etc.

Bring on AI.

Bring on some immigrant nurses and physicians from Europe etc at lower rates.

Who in the hell would have premiums anywhere near that? I’ve got Blue Cross Blue Shield in Louisiana for a family. I haven’t checked my premium in a while. But I know it’s less than 400.

This is going to blow your mind. If your employer is providing your health insurance, they are paying far more than $400/mo.

If you are getting your insurance on the marketplace, the government is paying for more than $400/mo.

I already said “don’t be an idiot” but you didn’t listen.

Who would prefer a Somali or Indian RN taking care of their sick arse?

No. They’re not. They pay exactly what I pay.

Americans are getting crushed by health insurance with monthly payments of $1500, $1700, and over $2000 per month.

And for some reason… have no clue why because the left refuses to say… but the left isn’t raising any hell about the high costs of insurance for the majority of Americans.

While they raise hell, as commanded by their programmers, for the tax money of the middle class hit by high costs to also pay for illegals’ care and others. So the costs are higher than their actual premiums. Some of their tax money goes to subsidize other people.

Dear MTG: The OBB that you voted for is going to raise those insurance premiums further. And while you complain about foreign leaders in the WH, what are your thoughts on the 20 billion dollar bailout to Argentina?

Here is another drone. Commanded to think. Commanded to act. Commanded to speak. Zero free thought. Zero free expression.

Could you imagine living your life like that? How pathetic it would be?

Now in this instance, notice the drone completely ignoring what actually upended health insurance to begin with and attack someone for “raising premiums further”.

Now a free thinker, not under the commands and directives of others, would be angry at what set it off in the first place.

Obamacare working as designed.

Then it is time to fulfill the promise to repeal and replace it with something better. Republicans have had a decade to perfect the improved system that they have repeatedly promised. Do it!. No one is stopping you.

Republicans control all three branches of government and have promised a repeal and replace for more than a decade.

Seriously, what is stopping Republicans from replacing the ACA with a better system??

That's pretty much entirely the ACA's fault. You realize that, right?

quote:

It's not so much preserving the health insurance model (it wouldn't be any cheaper for the same level of quality and coverage if it were socialized and public...you'd just pay for it differently) as it is preserving the for-profit model.

And yes, that is why we will never go away from what we're doing right now.

Because if the US abandons the for-profit health care model, medical R&D for the entire planet will come to a screeching halt. Over 90% of it is done here, and the reason it is is because we are the only country of any size who has maintained the incentive to do it.

Take away the profit, you take away the incentive.

Now, does it need to be as expensive as it is? Hell no. But again, the ACA is what has ballooned costs so much. And even if they did away with it today I don't think you could get the toothpaste back in the tube.
