Freaking epic.. Wish had more then just 2 Tanks 2 Bradleys etc.. They should allowed him to bring some MRAPS etc into DC..

Reminds me of going to Family day at the Guard when my dad was in NG.. People that don't support our Troopers don't understand i don't think..

frick it...while we are at it bring out a few CRAMS to add to the fireworks display. Have some B-52s dropping some firework mortars as they roar overhead while popping flares.....Lets get creative here

Pilots have to fly regularly to stay current so all the aircraft aren’t costing anything - go for it

Plus the Blue Angels does Air Shows as their jobs.. This nothing more then another show for them .. All the cost talk is just crap..

It’s equivalent to people screaming about the local police and fire departments displaying trucks, tactical vehicles, equipment, etc to the public during a trunk or treat that is sponsored by the Parish government

One of the things I love is the endless excuses as to why they shouldn't be allowed inside the city. Case in point from USAtoday

Hell, we had an air show at the base here in Charleston and they had multiple vehicles there as well. Doesn’t cost anything to have a vehicle just sit there.

The tracks are expensive to replace and the tank sitting there is not a problem, going straight is not a big deal either, turning will tear the frick out of the asphalt.
Go watch some doziers or excavators work, when they turn using their tracks as they move they tear the ground up

GHW Bush had Patriot Missile Launchers in 1991 in the DC parade so why can't this POTUS? It's not like it's unprecedented or some such BS.

That's why M1's have rubber pads on the tracks to prevent damage. They actually do this not for the benefit of the surface they drive on, but to prevent damaging the tank.
The footprint of the tracks distributes the weight over a larger area then a tire. The contact patch on the average car tire is about the size of a shoe. The rubber tracks on an M1 doesn't damage the road even when turning unless it is a dirt road.

I loved patriotic events and parades as a kid. We had a great one in our town every Fourth of July. The youth needs to experience more of it. The 80s and 90s were epic.
