This looks great as far as voter support. Looks a lot like last year with transgender bill, CRT bill and conceal carry. I emailed everybody, called everybody. Thought we were getting through.
You see how this ends. They make a boat load of campaign cash, put your favorite bill on a stick like a carrot and ride your excitement all the way to the bank and manage to get zero things across the line.
They can do this on their own. They just like the feeling of you carrying their sorry butts. Seriously, these people were damaged as children. They will limp every single bill around and the bill. Will. Die. Anyway.

It seems like it would be political suicide for Republican law makers as well as a substantial amount of Democrats to vote this into law.
This is contrary to public sentiment and not likely to pass.
Edit: Had this backwards, was thinking about another thread.

Are we discussing the same thing? Or are you in favor of JBE issuing edicts where you have no bodily autonomy?

I’m hearing tomorrow could be the day. Please keep the pressure on. JBE is doing everything he can to stop this

Whoops, my bad. I was thinking of another thread and that they were voting to mandate.

Truth, spoke with a state senator yesterday - one of the good guys.
He said the calls do help.
Keep fighting!

Never trust a politician. I did the phone calls and letter writing to the City of Central council. All of them were telling me what I wanted to hear. They all voted the other way.
The only way we can make a difference is voting those out of office. The people need sow their displeasure at the ballot box.

Any updates from the inside today? Don't like that this keeps dragging out.

I just learned Page Cortez selects the committee members.

It’s questionable wherever Pope was that he couldn’t attend a meeting with such a consequential and high-profile item on the agenda was as important. But the larger question beyond his absence was why the committee only has a 5-4 GOP majority at full strength.
Republicans outnumber Democrats better than 2-1 in the Senate. That would argue for a 6-3 split in the GOP’s favor on that panel. With that, the majority could weather even a pair of absences and still theoretically impose its preferences.
That oversight is on GOP Sen. Pres. Page Cortez. He makes committee selections and ultimately left no margin for error for this one. That mistake now will cost families and students.

Totally agree, but he is a friend that I have known for more than 10 years. He wouldn't have called me back if he was going the other way.

Nothing yet still waiting. I’m pretty sure discharge petition will happen but I know JBE and Cortez trying to use stall tactics to prevent from getting to floor. Confident it will be today if it already hasn’t happened but no official word yet

I have no idea why he actively works against his own party but he does. It’s sad and he’s one of the the main reasons the Republican majority in Senate has done nothing to fight JBE. It’s criminal

Bump. Any word on what, if anything, is going on with this?

Things still moving limited in what can be said publicly.
