Honestly, I don’t know what’s going on. I’m not a dr and have no science background in my education.
I do have three medical doctors in my immediate family, my father, sister and BIL (married to other sister). All three are very conservative politically and all three and their children are fully vaxxed. We’ve discussed all of it on multiple occasions. They are all adamant that we should all be vaccinated. For me that’s enough to guide my decision for my family. I Know they have the best intentions for myself and my family. I don’t know any of these anonymous posters on Tigerdroppings.com that claim to have other information. And honestly, I don’t have the time and energy some of these posters have to research this stuff. I’ll defer to the people in my real life that I know and trust.

43 year old female - ultra-marathoner type. From the beginning, she was not only hardcore anti-vax, but also insisted the entire thing was a hoax. Her family begged her to get vaxxed. It did get heated (which is why I responded in this thread in the first place).
Well, she ended up getting delta - and it was but a 96 hour start to finish experience where she died a pretty gruesome death. However, in her last moments of lucidity, she doubled down on everything...including the virus being a hoax.
Link?

Hey, I think that's just fine, it's a fair utilization of one's own free choice and thought process, regardless of whether I would come to the same conclusion or not. That's of no moment in another's decision making process nor should it be. Which if I had my way would be the case across the board, free will in that choice using whatever thought process one wishes.
But I do have a little curiosity inasmuch as the doctors in your immediate family, being that they were and are adamant as you mentioned, that adamant advice would seem to come with fairly specific supporting rationale in the effort to convince.....what was it? If you wish to share.

This simply didn't happen.
Yeah, it’s a no for me too dawg.
I’m not buying that account based on some anecdotal posting on a message board.

The moral of the story is: Covid is a religious cult. It has turned loving friends and family members into paranoid lunatics, who seem giddy to excommunicate anyone who doesn't share their fear. We are never going back to what it was like prior to March 2020. Too many people have been brainwashed to such a degree that we will never be the same.
See that's the thing. The vaccine is not a political issue. King of the poliboard Donald Trump advocates that everyone get the vaccine.
You have not just Fauci but medical experts all over the world advocating for the safety of these vaccines, including people that have zero stake in the situation whatsoever like your local medical experts.
Not knowing anything about your relationship with your dad outside of what you wrote in this thread, it sounds like he is just concerned for you. The vaccine drastically minimizes your risk of not only catching Covid (and thus spreading it to other people) but also of experiencing severe symptoms or having to be hospitalized.
The general population's unwillingness to get vaccinated is precisely why we have these variants and why Covid will likely become endemic.

No kidding.
10 years ago, if anyone had suggested that the Federal Government would soon seek to mandate H1N1 flu shots, I believe the vast majority of American citizens — regardless of political ideology — would have said that was a fringe conspiracy theory.
Indeed, then President Barack Obama, then NJ Governor Chris Christie, and current KY Senator Rand Paul — politicians that represent a cross section of political ideologies — all once held the same view that though swine flu shots are highly recommended, the Federal Government should not mandate such shots.
Yet here we are.

In fairness I did not ask for any rationale. I’m not sure I’d know enough to question them anyway.
Having said that, I’ve taken medicine/shots at least a hundred times and I’ve never grilled my doctor for a rationale.
Maybe I’ll start

Nawsir, I wasn't talking about prodding your personal doctor to explain all of his or her actions to you (although in certain instances it would be necessary, of course), I was talking about your immediate family's presumably informal advice to you to get the vaccine. I wouldn't have asked but you mentioned they were adamant, so I assumed they would expound. It just seems natural, and I was curious about their own personal rationale.

I don't think even China was prepared for the psychological aspect their bio-weapon was going to do to a country or population.

Everyone in my life, including my dear wife, knows better than to press me to do something that they know damn good and well that I'm not going to do.
They'll get one courtesy warning then they get told to frick off. Then that's it, nothing comes after that - frick off means frick off.
Your problem is that you've let them get to the point that they think manipulation of you is tolerable.

Oh...these are the kinda tweets that never age well...
If you don't think the vax will help you then don't take it...
But if you're over 55...and think the benefits of a vax outweigh the negative...
Then take it...
We need to stop with the polarizing rhetoric the vax "its a conspiracy" .
Its a man made virus that sucks...
Thats is all

The conspiracy is the suppression of information related to the disease, it’s possible treatments and the imposition of the vaccine by the federal government on those who do not wish to take it while many in that same federal apparatus are directly benefiting monetarily from the sale of these vaccines.
