In 2016, the Hasidic village of New Square (pop. 10k+) voted 95% for Clinton.

The village board has just unanimously endorsed
@realDonaldTrump
.

it is, but I doubt it's enough to flip NY. Numbers wise, it definitely isn't but I doubt that uber liberals in the burroughs feel the same way.

the proper term is "glatt kosher" (thank you Rabbi Blackman for introducing me to the Hasidic Jews of Williamsburg my last semester at LSU - special studies history course)

the impact of this could be YUGE!!!!! if this spreads beyond the Hasidm into the Orthodox world, things start getting interesting!!!

It seems that racism and prohibition of religious freedom will quickly shift one's political alignment. Thank you, Mr. Cuomo.

Well we have the Amish and the Jews in our corner. Wish we could get the Catholics in there too.

Honestly by themselves, no; but it’s a start. The Hasidic community is small in comparison to the number of non-religious Jews and are often viewed as crazy zealots by the majority. But Hasids also have large families (8-10 kids) and are heavily concentrated in NY/NJ, so their numbers are growing as those kids reach voting age.

Corona quarantine hit them especially hard as large gatherings are a central part of their religious and cultural identity. A minyan - minimum of 10 Jewish men - is a religious obligation for public prayer and gatherings of 10 or more were specifically prohibited. The significance of that number was not lost on them, they felt targeted. Hasids are also direct descendants of Holocaust survivors so calling everyone who disagrees with the left a Nazi doesn’t resonate with them, they faced real Nazis. Banning Passover services, weddings/funerals, even breaking up large family gatherings at private homes was much more reminiscent of Nazi persecution for them than Trump saying mean things.
