People don't like to be wrong and especially admit they were wrong. It's no surprise the way he reacted. However, with time to think about it, maybe he'll consider looking into the situation more and think about it from a different perspective. At least he was willing to listen.

Sounds like your friend is full-on drinking the kool-aid.
I'd practice social distancing from him from in person, on the phone, on social media....in fact I'd just talk to him if I had to. I keep friends like that at "states-away" reach.

I just found out the other day that one of my best friends that I’ve known for 20 years is a socialist. I was shocked.

You can't just say "Get better Friends", We have to convince these people. In the long run the only options are 1) convince a lot of them that the lefty take they hear on CNN is simply wrong, or 2) lose the elections and let them turn us into a commie nation, or 3) go to war. I'm not fond of options 2 & 3!
For the Atlanta Brooks shooting it should be easy; just walk through a few statements that most everyone should be able to agree to:
"If you are passed out drunk in a Wendy's drive through you should expect to wake to cops tapping at your window"
"If you blow a 0.1 BAC and are out of jail on a Covid release, you should expect to be arrested"
"If you resist arrest and assault the officers, the officers will use force to try to subdue you"
"If you ever point a weapon at the cops (especially immediately after assaulting cops), you should expect to be shot"
"And when you are shot by cops you will most likely die because they are trained to aim for the center of mass and fire multiple rounds to be sure of a quick take down"
"If you've heard a different story about what went down that night, the News you rely on is lying to you"

Going in to law enforcement used to be a proud profession for young adults to aspire to.

We all have friends like this. The underlying cause of this is TDS. They hate the President so much and view him as the root cause of all problems in the US, that any means necessary to remove him from office is justified.
The Marxists are using this hatred as a tool. Marxist have always used division to destabilize countries and swoop in during the chaos. The Marxists are dividing us black against white, rich against poor, straight vs LGBT, and even using the pandemic to divide us. Notice they have no solutions to any of these problems. Just chaos. People need to wake up, because once the chaos reaches a tipping point, we'll have civil war. That is the end goal.

Well of course they are. And when the mob comes for them when they get tied up in a legal issue, they will be the first ones hollering about due process, and "we have to wait until all of the facts come out".
