That’s a shame.

Can you blame these imbeciles though?

Option 1: Do research. Take the time. Really try and learn and put forth effort even when the truths are uncomfortable. Get vilified for knowing the truth.

Option 2: Do absolutley ZERO research. Be completely lazy. Wholesale adopt the party line and get to go about your day as a "morally and intellectually superior" person.

Sounds like your friend might benefit from taking a ride-along with APD to see things through a different lens....although I'd be surprised if any inner city PD is doing ride-along's right now with all the unrest

John Adams said facts are stubborn things. Unfortunately brain washed liberals are stubborn things as well.
If the facts don't fit their agenda, they make new facts. I have a sister like that, it is tough to reason with someone that bases everything on emotion rather than facts. I have another sister that is logical and we both get exasperated with her.

6) I asked him if we are to accept his narrative that police in ATL are hunting down black people, then ultimately who is responsible? He said the police. I asked him who is responsible for the police and he said the police chief. I asked him who the police chief is responsible to, and he said the Mayor. So I then asked which ATL Mayor is
responsible for allowing rampant racism to permeate the APD: the current one, or the previous 100 years or so of ATL Democrat Mayors? He finished his drink and asked for his bill.

This needs to Be asked/repeated often. The sooner they are forced to realize that they have created this world they complain about, the sooner a few of them can join the “right” side.

Who am I kidding....99% of these people are brainwashed.

I have stated for years on this board that the liberal progressive nut jobs were taking over the Democrat’s.

For every Toddy that has seen the light and escaped the “plantation,” there are ten more Democrat’s doubling down on the ideological shift towards Marxism.

According to the neo-communists spamming TD, this place is an echo chamber. Yet, those with differing opinions are still allowed (and with ever greater numbers due to the wave of “new” accounts).

The true echo chambers are the MSM and social media. The propaganda arms of the Democrat’s have made America the enemy. Goebbels would be proud of their work.

I truly wonder what November will bring.

I hate to say this, because most of my friends are some form of "liberal," but I have zero tolerance for this intellectual depravity these days. I'm hoping it will blow over, and the combo of being 45 with two babies and COVID and focusing on my family has made this radicalism less noticable.

But apart from helping show the silent majority that they are indeed still a majority, I just can't engage in this nonsense.

And this is particularly absurd:
quote:

He doesn't care to hear it. He "hears stories" about police brutality happening all over ATL against minorities.

The police forces in City of Atlanta, City of Decatur, and DeKalb County are majority black. The mayors are black. The DAs are black. And now all three police chiefs (Atl interim) are black.

I find it really hard to be friends with someone who believes those two APD officers should be tried for anything, much less felonies, much less murder.

I am convinced that leftist are being taught to not try to get into moderately or deep philosophical discussions. I think they are taught to cut off conversation or drop friendships and associations, once the person they are talking to shows they know the facts or have an argument that stumps them.

The left doesn't want their soldiers to get converted and they don't want them to lose a battle that others might be listening on.

I have had several long term associates cut me off with only a mild defense of Trump. No rebuttal, no, talk later or we just have to agree to disagree. Just poof.

For sure. In college he was one of those friends who I sincerely enjoyed having spirited discussions with. This was a far cry from that.

He also accused me of being combative and commented that the discussion was "fighting." I told him I wasn't fighting him, but I did tell him I operate on facts and figures and the law, not emotions, feelings, and anecdotes of injustice.

I begged him to give me numbers to support his opinion (CPAs love numbers, right?). He couldn't.

I lost a ton of respect for him not for disagreeing with me, but for being so grossly ill-informed, and worse, hypocritical.

I probably won't take his call the next time he's in town.

The truth if someone is possessed by ideology you cant change that, but at least you tried.

It is easier to fool a man that to get him to admit he has been fooled.

I don't know why you are shocked your liberal friend is now a progressive. It has happened to every liberal friend I have and they don't even realize that their opinions and position have changed dramatically.

Hell, you should've just limited it to the past 50 years of Democrat mayors (all but one, Massell, were black).

He wasn't going to instantly cave.

You planted the seeds. If they don't take root, your friend is an idiot.
