However I think one common sense solution would be to ban firearm ownership from people who have been involuntarily committed to a facility. This would at least keep guns out of the hands of some psychotic people.

I own guns so don't get me wrong here but your statement is just ludicrous. All a person has to say and responses that a person without guns doesn't kill near as many people

There is no way you can control gun violence by taking away guns.

You are retarded if you think so.

There are more guns than people in this country.

I'm not advocating for taking away guns. I just think that it's a really stupid statement that he made.

I'm a "Pro 2" guy all the way, but bump-stocks have me worried. Can't put this cork back in the bottle. Let the truth be told, didn't even know they existed until Las Vagas. Did Kelley use one?

I find it suspect when someone starts off with a proclamation of their support for the Second Amendment.

Why?

Probably this, right?

Man - you have too much time on your hands. Are you so dense that you don't realize that's why I mentioned it?

Thanks for that knit-picky point, Shakespeare. I'll have to use a spelll checker next time.

Lefties answer this: what 3rd world drug cartel countries border Australia? Drugs are illegal in the US but the demand is high so guess what? They import them for us. If guns get banned what is stopping them from using the same network to traffic more weapons? Lefties love open borders and unlimited access to this country so what would a ban actually do?

A ban without tight border security would be about as useful as drugs being illegal.

Incidents like this prove that laws work when people obey them, laws don't work when people do not obey them. So long as people who want a solution to incidents like this use the logic that creating more laws will solve the problem of people not obeying laws that have already been created they will never solve the problem.

The cause of the problem isn't guns. The cause of the problem is that there are people who believe they have an excuse to walk into a church and kill innocent people. When that line of thinking is changed the problem will be solved until then it won't be and all the laws in the world will not change that.

Because you're okay with Americans dying to continue your fetishization of firearms.

Some of us aren't.

Why give anyone rights if an infinitesimally small portion of the population will pervert those rights and hurt people? We should all surrender to callous government control of every aspect of our lives. This will ensure free will is diminished, because if we arent allowed to make out own decisions, then we can't make the "wrong" ones.

Out of curiosity, BamaAtl, are you for the banning of Alchohol it kills thousands every year. Liver disease and cirrohsis are the 12th highest killer of Americans every year. But you don't care because you're okay with Americans dying to continue your fetishization of alcohol.

How about Sugar and Carbs and fast food? Diabetes is the 7th highest killer of Americans every year. But you don't care because you're okay with Americans dying to continue your fetishization of sugar.

How about Cars? Road accidents are among the top 10 causes of death in the world every year. But you don't care because you're okay with Americans dying to continue your fetishization of motorized travel.

Yes you are.

Outline the laws that would have prevented this, and we'll discuss.

Laws exist as a foundational means to justify punishment for people who break them. Laws are not preventative. Criminals will find a way to commit crimes. It's why they're criminals. This guy could've committed this tragedy with any tool. It makes no sense to ban the individual tool he chose.
