If an absolute ruler like Lenin, Stalin, or Mao can't establish communism properly, then it can't be done.
They were, all 3, very well read in Marx. They loved Marxism. They wanted it more than anything.

Russia is still assassinating people in every country in the world. . .and everyone knows they are doing it.
Zero countries have done a thing.
Zero countries have done a thing.

They each had to kill millions of their own people in order to make it "work right."
Since "equality" didn't work, the word has now been changed to "equity"
Equality is equal opportunity, equity means special treatment. It's just another attempt to give people who havent earned their place a chance to steal what has been created, which is the basis of marxist theories.

attrition as a strategy doesn't matter to communists or socialists, because individuals are not important. They'll burn through the population for the cause.

This is easy

Patton didn’t say that, he just said we should keep marching to Moscow.

I agree that attrition was the strategy for Stalin. But make no mistake, the Russian soldier was then, and is probably still today, the toughest soldier in the world.
Those are some tough SOBs
And they had some of the best generals in the war, even the ones left after the purges. They couldn't overcome the ferocity and technology of the Reich. I mean, the artillery alone was. . .frick, and they moved it so much faster than anyone thought possible.

If anyone said we shouldn't be fighting Hitler, that is a sick frick.
but we should have gone on to Moscow.

quote:The Japanese approached the Germans in '35 wanting to discuss an alliance against the Soviets. I think the gameplan was for a coordinated, simultaneous attack on Russia from multiple fronts, and then a later focus on taking on the US. This, I think, was the German plan.
It’s kind of crazy how we’ve built up this myth of German superiority but they had no hope of winning a war with Russia
I think the Japs maybe goaded the Germans into it, wanting instead for Russia to be so preoccupied with Germany in the West that it would leave Asia and Japan alone (as it did), and they hoped to then knock the US out of the Pacific so they could consolidate their empire. In other words, the Japs played the Germans, and in the process screwed the Axis.

It's supposedly a "disputed" quote, but he was removed from command for openly questioning the denazification process after the end of the war.

Hitler was destabilizing Europe, and committing genocide of millions
Also he was disrupting international trade, killing American interests in the region and in North Africa, killing Americans in Europe, etc.

Before the war started? I didn't know that you subscribed to the Samantha Power school of using force.

the second section was why we joined the war

Well yeah. I understand the justifications that were give. You said that anyone who said we shouldn't have been fighting Nazi Germany was a sick frick. I was just trying to pin down why.

Weird how we let China do this today. We seem to pick and choose when to be the morality police.

The real reason is the UK cannot stand the idea of a continental power becoming too strong. They nearly drove their economy to ruin financing coalition after coalition to defeat Napoleon and made a deal with the devil to defeat Hitler.
The idea that in 1941 anyone in the west cared about the plight of the Jews in Eastern Europe is laughable.
