I have advocated this strategy for YEARS:
Blacks (and Hispanics?) should just one election cycle break completely the other way from the norm. It will do two things -
1) The DEMS will no longer take your vote for granted and actually have to WORK for it
2) Will show Rs that your vote is available and not to just ignore you as hopeless
So, there is no downside to this at all. This year is even the best year to ever do it. If 70% of the black vote went to Trump, the entire political calculus for minority votes would change forever.
I don't even have the viewpoint of "group think". But, as a strategy, it just makes the most sense.
