If you mean the America I grew up in, then Yes. If you mean a socialist liberal utopia, then hell no.

I am a grandparent. I am not only 'willing to' but 'anxious to' go out in any public area right now every day and take my chances. Unless the public area is Biden rally.

Citizens of America, are you willing to take a chance on your survival in exchange for having automobiles revolutionize the way life is lived?

Do you feel confident it's not as widespread as believed or do you think you're in good enough health to get by if you did catch it? Jw.

We talk about politicians not ever having had real jobs before entering the field.

Patrick was a talk show host. Unless your name is Rush, Levin, or Hannity, you really don't have a real job.

Not the best analogy but the logic is very sound.

I think there’s a middle ground somewhere.

Strict adherence to social distancing would probably be that.

Whatever you think of this, it's stupid to say politically.

If Dan Patrick runs for Governor there's a good chance Texas turns blue.

Dan Patrick is a walking Todd Akin

I like what Collin County in TX did today. All businesses are considered essential business and can operate as long as they can provide for and maintain social distancing in groups of 6 or less. Sensible.

Easiest place in the country to attain social distancing

We went from “this is war” to “how much do you even love your grandparents anyway?” real quick

absolutely -

I would gladly take the deal that I may die within the next year from covid19 rather than in the next 5 years from cancer IF the other side of that deal is the certainty that my great-grandchildren will be asked to live in a depression level environment for the rest of their lives.

I was born in the middle of the last great depression - I pray to God that I don't die in the opening years of the next one.

1. I don't believe it's widespread.
2. I don't believe it's a deadly disease.
3. My health is terrible now because I can't get to the gym or golf course.

This gets into some basic libertarian philosophy. I'm not a danger to infect you young people. I'm in danger of letting myself get infected by you. I own myself. I can take risks that involve my own safety.
If the govt should mandate restrictions that protect someone against himself then put fat people in jail until they lose weight.

It is deadly. There's not a lot of people dying from it, but there are people dying.
Mostly older, but even here in America we've had people in their 40s die.
to the 2nd part of that tho .

definitely understand what you're getting at but you can't just "catch" fatness. I would say having seniors shelter in place every flu season would be the best analogy for what you're saying.

Unfortunately here in Denton County we're under shelter-in-place effective tomorrow at midnight.

Alternatively, what about those who are young who are willing to take the financial hits to increase the chances of this not ravaging our parents and grandparents?

I appreciate older Americans with this noble idea, but the same question should be posed to us (younger Americans).

Its a strawman argument.

Any person that feels threatened can self-isolate, if they don't feel like rolling the dice.

Many of us have been saying this since the beginning... old people that are scared, can sit at home... my parents have for 2 weeks.
