Not much will change at all; just proves how much government waste in paying salaries to slackers and non-essential employees

Yes. The dems wanted a reduction or reversal of Medicaid cuts that recently passed. They were also opposing cuts to the CDC and NIH.

I’m not saying you are incorrect or there are not other reasons.

Yes, please list others so people can discuss, at least those who want to.

Most people (including me) don’t keep up on government shuts down much, because they really don’t affect much. Lots of posturing by both sides.

Good! They can't spend our stolen money if the government is shut down.

I woke up 8 minutes before my alarm went off this morning. Without good, common-sense laws regulating my sleep being enforced due to the shutdown, I missed full minutes of sleep by waking up on my own.

I remember all the dead bodies stacked on the streets last time and the mass graves because there were so many....

Still can't figure out who paid all the grave diggers...

I wondered why I woke up this morning with a freedom boner.

He asked no quarter of the bosses and none was given.

Dems hate America enough to shut it down for not kowtowing to their whims of funding a voting base full of illegals.

Who remembers when the Republicans shut it down from 2018 to 2019? Pepperidge farm members.

So Republicans representing America, and Dems protecting foreign invaders is what you believe is a “gotcha?”

Geez. I see the uninformed are awake. Sad thing is the unformed’s vote counts equally as those that do their research. Research before posting.

wait you said it was to restore the Biden covid subsidies that are expiring. Now it's the Medicaid funding that was already legislated in the reconciliation bill?

they want a do-over on the reconciliation fight they already lost including restoring foreign aid, NPR/PBS and Medicaid spending.

They passed 13 CRs under Joetato but now refuse to pass a clean CR.

Democrats' opposition stemmed from the Republican refusal to include an extension of enhanced health insurance tax credits under the Affordable Care Act, which were set to expire.

I have a feeling that you were offering this tidbit to explain the Dems' side and present them as being reasonable, but this is exactly the type of thing that we shouldn't allow to continue. The Republicans need to hold the line and begin removing non-essentials from payrolls and cutting bloated federal programs that are not constitutionally authorized. (Remember, SCOTUS ruled the Affordable Care Act to be constitutional only after Obama and friends changed their tune and said it was a tax very clearly telling everyone it was not a tax in orde to get it through congress.)

Time to start firing the non essential employees.
I don't think you can do that during a shutdown. But, long lists of do nothings should be ready to do when/if they return. The ones that aren't missed should see what a RIF looks like when they return if the govt does reopen.
