JBE says Garrett Graves was not interested in meeting with him. Emails shown seem to reveal otherwise.

But meh honor code!!!!

ETA: What a completely dumb lie. A simple, "our schedules didn't allow for it" works and wouldn't cause any commotion from either side. Instead Mr. I'm a "conservative" Democrat wanted to play party politics and got burnt.

It doesn't get much more blunt than

quote:

Please disregard this request. The Governor's schedule does not allow for time to meet during the trip to DC.

or

quote:

Unfortunately the Governor will be headed back to Louisiana during those times. We will try to reconnect them at a later date.

Graves is a solid dude. Somebody you have a beer with. He surrounds himself with good people, his staff is pretty awesome too

I wonder if Landry is getting nervous about Graves running in 2019

I liked him back when he was Jindal's coast guy. Saw him speak around 2008/2009 and liked what I heard.

I'm glad he jumped from that sinking ship when he did and I hope he runs next election.

Edwards was working with the Pope to cut down on the slave trade between BR and Houston.

Cut him some slack.

I believe if today I was offered the power to install KBB as governor for 8 years in exchange for JBE leaving the office and the state I would do it.

Landry will definitely make a run at it. Populist coonass who has been in public office in DC and at home. He's going to have to manage the AG"s office without any blemishes if someone like Graves jumps in, though.

i think people are undervaluing the coming oil resurgence and what it will do for JBE's tenure. Landry and Graves both running (in that scenario) could help Edwards avoid a runnoff.

of course, if the oil production doesn't re-surge, we'll definitely have a republican in office.

False logic. If Edwards is going to get 50%+1 from the voters in the open primary, he's going to get it regards if one or two or seventeen Republicans are in the race.

How many times does this have to be explained to people??

You can only tax people so much without any tangible benefits before they resist. When everyone in Louisiana is paying more taxes, or paying completely new taxes, but not seeing any infrastructure improvement, public school improvements, etc. and then JBE gets on TV threatening to cut TOPS and "cancel LSU football" people will get pissed. There's a reason Texas can levy massive property taxes, the people see their schools, roads, police and fireman, and local government put that money to work.
