$100 said Gov. Landry is coming out with this now mostly, if not solely, to have a wedge issue for social/cultural conservatives in the race. Emerson is his candidate, she will absolutely vote NO. If Fleming votes YES, or even if he just can't even stop the majority of the commission from voting YES, Landry camp will use it against him.

as he should. Fleming votes for this and I will not vote for him. Screw all the 4D chess. This isn't a state problem. Let NOLA fix its own mess.

Henry was not Landry’s choice for Senate President. He had the votes locked up.

Does the city have a plan to repay the 125M loan?

Are they even at a balanced budget?

Isn’t the City Council over the budget anyway, including the Mayor-Elect?

They approve the budget

They have no control over any overspending, apparently

The state, I believe, has to approve the bond, but the state is not on the hook for it.

I’m ok appointing a fiscal administrator

If the city doesn’t get money, services stop.

This isn’t a budget issue, this is a “the checking account has $7 in it” issue

The state is not giving the city a penny, much less a blank check

I believe you are correct.

Municipalities take out loans all the time, and they fly through Bond Commission approval. This one's politically charged because of New Orleans, its disastrous, corrupt mayor, and the 2026 U.S. Senate race.

Ok, interesting. For some reason I thought Landry had endorsed him for the Sen. Prez position.

Guess maybe he could be a YES vote, then, on the bond issue?

They need to go through some hard times and tighten their belts. That’s what happens to any of us in a financial situation.
