It is more valuable to protect innocent children who are unable to consent to these treatments from the irreversible effects of the treatment. It’s not a contradiction with “small government ideals” to do so.

It’s not anti-conservative to not allow parents to abuse their children.

That would be embarrassing for this state if he happens to win that seat.

I'm sure the Republican supermajority in the Senate AND House will get the override done like they vowed to do. Right? Right guys? They'll do it, right?

Don’t approach this issue as if the other side is operating logically or in good faith.

The goal of the (other side) is to destroy society, to destroy religion, to destroy families. They don’t give a shite about any of these kids. They view them as cannon fodder in the revolution.
You have basically two choices, when evaluating those who support transition surgery for minors (I am not among them, before the usual morons chime-in).

One, you can believe that these folks are utterly convinced that puberty blockers and early physical transition will produce a better long-term quality of life than waiting to make those changes AFTER the body has matured into the form that the child, the parents and their physicians agree is the "wrong" form for that individual. (yes, yes, I understand that you don't think this is possible, but we are examining THEIR viewpoint, not yours).

Two, you can believe that they are just evil incarnate and get their jollies at the notion of hacking up young bodies, hopefully the bodies of young people who will ultimately come to regret the transition. Bwa-haha, bwa haha.

The folks who believe the latter can probably also imagine each and every one of these people twirling a handlebar mustache, tying young damsels to train tracks, and laughing maniacally the entire time. Or owning a white Persian cat, anyway.

Because their SoCon ideology is overriding their "limited government" ideology.

"Conservatives" do largely fall into one of those two camps, and a person's stance on this issue is a good litmus test for which ideology is the baseline for any given self-described "conservative."

Do parents have absolute rights over their children? Or are their rights to parent as they choose limited?

Can parents force their children to view pornography? Consume illicit drugs?

Of course not. So we all agree that parents don’t have absolute rights to “parent” their children as they wish. You don’t have a moral or philosophical high ground here. You just want to have tranny kids running around eroding society.

fricking idiot.

You're using my usual tactic to get dumb people to STFU in social situations, the extremes of both sides. Since you're a lawyer, I wish I could say I expected better, but you're pushing your argument, so I get it.

Why aren't minors allowed to pump gas before a certain age in most states? Drinking? Tattoos? Entering into binding contracts? Enlisting?

Let them turn 18, do whatever the hell you want (but not on someone else's dime.)

Or just get their moms a lot of therapy.

Copy and paste a portion of what you’re linking to so people get the gist of the story before clicking.

If it’s a video, say so in your post including how long it is and a brief summary of what it covers.

There have always been masculine girls and feminine boys. There have always been a small portion of the population who aren’t typical (although this seems to be increasing rapidly). What’s the solution? Pump them full of pharmaceuticals and give them surgery when the are still children?

Hank, there are other character types that support this nonsense. First are the parents (mostly liberal white women) who would gladly sacrifice their child to show off their virtue. Next, are those in the medical community that see huge dollar signs when these mentally ill children (mental illness likely caused by liberal white woman mother; see above) walk through the door with a mental illness claiming to need genital mutilation or hormone therapy.

You have way more trust in the government than any reasonable person should. I can't imagine thinking that the government has a better idea of how to parent their children than actual parents.

Do you need them to wipe your arse too?

Parents have a right to abuse their children? frick you for wanting that.

I mean, you are a leftist, so you probably prefer protection for pedos over children, but then again, you are a shitbag of a human being.

Parents have the right to mutilate their children's genitals?

Did I wake up in a different country.
