GOP immigration negotiator Sen. Shelby says a deal to avoid another shutdown coming Monday

Capitol Hill sounds hopeful about an agreement to prevent another government shutdown. Where the White House stands is less certain.
Alabama Sen. Richard Shelby, the top Republican negotiator on a conference committee trying to keep government running past Feb. 15, said Thursday that he expects a deal on border security funding by Monday. Shelby, chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee, made the comments after briefing President Donald Trump on the talks.
"The president urged me to get to yes," Shelby told reporters, according to Bloomberg. "He would like us to conclude our bill in a positive way for the American people."

I saved the thread as HHM already did post the rapist of VA has a second accuser. The comments won't match but saved a dup thread from happening.

I sure as heck don't want an agreement. Any agreement will be watered down crap. Get to an deadline. No bill. Build the wall without congress and then work out a bill after that doesn't require funding for the wall. Negotiate that bill on whatever you want to accomplish next.

This is a good thing. All that is needed for border security will be in the bill but just don't announce it or call it a wall.

The only way I will ever vote for Shelby again is if he somehow makes it to the general election, because even as worthless as Shelby is, he is still better than a POS Democrat like Doug Jones.
