Beck didn't convince me to drop the NeoCon policy of pushing Democracy in Muslim nations.
An excellent illustrating of my point on herding the masses into group-think.

Aside from ulterior motives, I see it as a very good thing that someone is willing to change their mind. I don't think it happens enough.

I'm with Beck on this one.
You and I have very different definitions of tilting towards whichever way the wind is blowing.

So Glenn Beck says don't go back to Iraq? Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

Post 9/11 there were many who began to stray from group-think. Beck's job was and always will be to round up those "fringe" folks and get them back in line with the herd.

His particular brand of spin has been a successful one, which is why he remains on TV and collects big paychecks.

Can you be more specific?

In the previous post, you said Beck is fooling people. You are saying that he is being disingenuous. Without getting into all the grand-scale stuff, can you tell me specifically why you are saying this?

Wouldn't this be considered an ulterior motive?

Yes, he is definitely disingenuos.

There is an imaginery pen of group-think in which the mainstream media, Beck included, is tasked with herding the masses into. Their job is to keep group-think contained within that imaginary pen.

Thoughts must not stray beyond the borders of that pen, which contains the group-think.

Beck's job is to maintain this. What he has been able to do, whether by design or of his own doing, is to take us to the edge of that pen without ever going beyond it.

That tactic has successfully intrigued the "fringe" folk and herded enough of them back into the pen of group-think that he is rewarded with more TV time and bigger paychecks.

Yes, but don't think for a minute that he changed his mind. His scipt, yes. His mind, not so much.

Do you really want to use definitive language like this?

How can you be certain of Beck's sincerity?

It seems that you don't have a specific reason for saying this. If that's the case, you should have said that it is your belief or opinion, something to that effect instead of saying definitely.

We're having some communication issues. I asked if you could scale this down, and get specific with why you said what you did about Beck.

Do you really not see what a ridiculous reach you're making with this statement?

How the frick do you know what is really going on in Beck's mind?

I think it's a conviction that we are done in the Middle East and the future consequences are what they will be.

I too am tired of the nonesense in the middle east.

Whatever they want to do, let them do.. We have no business over there. It was a mistake in the beginning and now it's a disaster.

I am tired of spending money and people getting killed with no plan, no goal, no nothing

I mean the president never talks about any of it.

What is going on exactly? I have no idea... I just know, these people over there are whacked out of their minds and we should get out of their homeland unless we intend to conquer it. Since that isn't the goal, nation building isn't something we should be doing though it is a noble idea.

When and if we get bombed in the future, the next nuclear bomb should be dropped in that region where most terrorist cells live and breed...We should first let that part of the world know we intend to use our nuclear weapons if we are attacked again like on 911 and the evidence proves terrorist from the middle east are responsible.. Maybe I am the nut for suggesting this, but I am done with terrorist groups who just murder people cold blood, who plot evil killing innocent woman and children.

Tasked by whom? Are there meetings? Or, do they just send out emails?

They use the IRS servers, so there's no worry about a chain of evidence.

So when we start bombing, will there be protests? Seems like their should be.

No. The right won't protest, by and large, with our young men and women in harm's way - they may turn out a little more to vote in November.

And the left won't protest this president, period.

It isn't any more complicated than that.

Does anybody really think we are going back into Iraq? Other than to get our people out or reinforce our embassy if need be?

Most of the Viet Nam War era hippies are either dead or in the "home" or just don't g.a.s. anymore if they are around. IMO, they were the last bastion of protesters concerning war.
