I saw some fool on Twitter who blamed Trump for 2016 GDP numbers.

Y’all didn’t want an answer it’s obvious. But any rational person can see the recovery act that was passed ended the recession and helped by the second year. It has been growing ever since and is still growing. If any part of that is wrong then let me know, otherwise thats that.

So without the recovery act the recession would have never ended?

After a recession there is a typical quick bounce and somehow Obama was able to keep that bounce from happening despite historic low interest rates. He was amazing....

Wow, the world is coming to an end...

But, as has been pointed out numerous places in this thread, Obama was at rock bottom with nowhere to go but up but he still managed to implement policy that kept the economy from recovering at a better pace... You will get no argument from me that Obama inherited a shitty deal from Bush, but then he doubled and tripled down on stupid again and again...

We can argue hypotheticals all day, everyone knows a recession can continue getting worse because we’ve been in the deeper trough. Again the question was what specific policy was implemented and I think, along with many experts, that the stimulus helped turn around the recession. That’s not an unreasonable belief. Again we’re thriving under trump and I’m pleased with his economy even more.

I think they should both be given some credit. Trump is continuing the trend and doing well.

Fine. But it’s just as disingenuous as asking what Orville Wright specifically did to help design the F-16.

The thread title is "Giving Obama credit for today's GDP numbers". Obama is not responsible for today's economy other than he is to blame for slow growth. Nothing Obama did increased economic freedom of private business. Increased taxes and regulation does not grow the private industry. It increases tax revenue, but over time the gains of increased tax revenue are offset by the increased regulations on private business. And FWIW, this isn't all on Obama's shoulders. Congress is largely to blame. The periods when the left controlled all branches, and even after the GOP took over did nothing to expand private industry. And frankly, the Republicans in Congress are doing nothing right now to help economic growth. It's being done, in large part, by the President and his negotiations on trade, and speaking with private business owners. The Tax change helped, but Congress must do more, like cut spending.

Literally answered this before you posted it.

Debates could be held over whether or not the economy would have recovered without that but it’s believed that it would have gone much lower before turning around.

You mean the billions spent on solar (Democratic family ran companies) just to watch the companies collapse, or the hundreds of millions spent on the Atlanta Street car. You're right, money well spent. It totally set Trump up for success.

Obama fricked things up bad enough that only someone doing the total opposite could get this level of success.

It’s the “You only found that phone because I threw it out the window!” school of credit.

You left your original accusation that I insinuated the economy would have never turned around without a stimulus. You good on that now?

There's your flaw...

See It?

It is rising at an accelerated rate...granted, Obama made inflation common place...so much so, alternative currencies came about in a strong way...

I had originally started this thread because I remember back in 2016 when the MSM and left-leaning people kept warning us of our economic impending doom if Trump were to win the election. But then, he wins and the economy flourishes. And not only were these people wrong, but they fully credit Obama. Hence, my original question.

Oh, yeah I mean I still think they both deserve some credit in their own time. I know I’m supposed to say jug ears or moochelle a bunch to get upvotes. Trump is doing well now, and I think his economy is even better. People who thought the economy would slow down and crash when trump took over are dumbass liberals who don’t understand it. Was your whole point to acknowledge how dumb they were?

No. I actually wanted to get some concrete answers other than "Obama cleaned up Bush's mess. Blah blah blah...." Most people who say stuff like that don't actually know what that means. I saw a contradiction in the argument of Trump crashing the economy while also giving Obama credit during Trump's Presidency when the economy continues to soar.

Whoever was after bush had a pretty rough economy to come into, I think we can all agree on that. That’s not saying bushs fault, I’m simply stating the truth about the timeline. Trump took over a strengthening economy. That’s not saying give obama the credit, that’s just the truth of the timeline again. Trump is doing very well, and it’s sad some liberals wanted the country to fail to say told ya so about trump.

Most rapid recovery in history, and if it didn't go up during this presidency, then we would have been in the greatest in the greatest depression in history
