Georgia installed license plate readers on most intersections which tracks every vehicle.

I have seen many small mentions of this but once I learned what they looked like and the different types I realized that 99% of the intersections I drive through is making a record of every car that travels through that intersection and keeps it for two years.
I first heard of it when Cobb Country announced they received a donation from a private organization to install these license plate readers on the remaining intersections to blanket the entire County.
I also saw that most other States and cities were using them as well.
They have the ability to type your license plate into the data base and see every intersection you have been on, the date, the time and direction of travel during the last two years.
I had no idea the level we were being surveilled.
I also learned there are a few different designs of these plate readers. Google them and see if you to are being tracked.
There was a bill banning them being used in Georgia in 2016 but it failed to pass.

well let's see who picked up the drop box ballots

Wilmington NC has had them since at least 2006. When you get the bill in the mail for going through a yellow light they show the pics of the license plate.
Also IIRC: it is not allowed on driving records. So what happens if you don't pay it?

This is the company that installed the cameras on every intersection in my County.
The link is to their website. Scary stuff being sold as crime fighting tools.

These are not red light cameras.
They are tracking you and your license plate every time you pass by the readers.

Flock is based in GA. It's very useful for crime fighting and is catching on in neighborhood HOAs etc. It's your typical security for privacy/liberty trade off.
I have fewer issues with it in the HOA setting, although obviously who has access, what they can use it for, etc. is controversial.

According to the website everything goes into a Cloud which can be accessed by law enforcement agencies.
It was eye opening to see it on almost every intersection in my suburban city.
I also saw they were every few miles on the highway into and out of Atlanta.
The Government knows everyplace you have been since 2019

It’s a pretty cool solution for neighborhoods. A tool that can be weaponized and abused in the hands of government.
I’d feel better if this info could only accessed via subpoena, but you saw folks will lie on them and judges will approve anything.

I'll assume you are not a small government conservative.

Bossier Parish in NW Louisiana is slap-arse full of LPR cameras. So much for "conservatism". shite is ridiculous.

The footage is only saved in the cloud for 30 days. These cameras have proven to reduce the crime rate.

Pretty dumb assumption
The Patriot Act was useful for stopping terrorists. That statement isn't an endorsement.

There was a reality tv show called Hunted that aired in early 2017 that showed plate readers in action. The idea was to have pairs of contestants try to hide and avoid capture by specialists that included former FBI folks. The trackers used alerts sent from plate readers around Atlanta to identify one couple while they were driving. Plate readers in other areas were also monitored for “hits” on the couple’s cars, the cars of their relatives, and the plates of rental cars tied to the couples.
Social media was the downfall of some. One couple had a friend rent a car for them so their name wouldn’t appear in the car company’s system. However, the trackers scoured social media and searched for names of friends and relatives too. One couple pitched a tent in some isolated park in Florida but they posted about staying there in the past on social media.

This is grossly un American. This isn’t even the slippery slope to totalitarian rule, it is totalitarian.
There is no justifiable reason for developing or installing such a system.

Most places have had these for well over 10 years now

We can disagree on the cop shooting threads.
But I absolutely 100% hate these cameras. I have seen where they are useful and if all this information is stored then the benefits do not come anywhere close to the negatives.

The road to Hell is paved with good intentions. Even if there is a good reason, it's inexcusable for government to violate our privacy like this. Yes, where I go and when is my business and not theirs and they have no right to have that information.
