There already is a path to citizenship. It’s a legal path.

Fox News

quote:

Former President George W. Bush said he believes there should be a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants in the United States.  Bush spoke virtually at the South by Southwest festival Thursday, in a conversation with the Texas Tribune.  He said he was "deeply concerned with the rhetoric around immigration," and it was a "political pipe dream" to send away the over 11 million unauthorized immigrants in this country. "There needs to be an overhaul, which means that we need to get politics out of the system and get sober-minded people focusing on a) what's best for our economy and b) what's best for our country," the 43rd president said.

Perhaps legal immigration?

My fiancée did it. My brother in law did it. My great grandparents did it.

I just don't understand the blatant unfairness of it all, and the left's encouragement of it (actually i do). For the thousands waiting to come into this country legally, the right way, and are already in the process, you are being passed over for those that want immediate reward and gratification for doing things the wrong and illegal way.

Leftists, explain this to me. Justify this. Why do you prioritize criminals over honest people? I'll be waiting for cwill, tigerdoc, Mickey, c on z, texridder, or any other regressive to respond.

This is probably the only issue I deviate from conservatives on. We need to get the border under control first and foremost but the task of deporting the sheer number of illegals here seems expensive and in more cases than not, unnecessary.

Mexicans largely have core conservative values. The illegals I've known are very family oriented, religious, and actually contribute to society. The liberal hispanics adopt liberal policies because the one thing they want most is supported by liberals. If that were to change, I think they would jump ship bigly.

Most just want to participate peacefully and legally. The process to citizenship is extremely difficult which it should be. I think conservatives would win a huge base here if they could come around and find a way to weed through the bad actors.

My extremely outlandish idea is to take the hardened illegals (drug dealers, rapers, murderers etc. . . ) and dropping them in the middle east somewhere. Introduce some diversity to the middle east.

Anyways, I'll take my downvotes like a man on this issue.

Why don't we build that path so that it leads to the Bush ranch's front door and see how he feels?

Let’s pretend that for the Super Bowl, 1,000 fans snuck their way into the stadium without a ticket, can you envision a scenario where they are allowed to stay and watch the game?

You don't stop deviant behavior by rewarding it.

If your kid throws a temper tantrum you don't reward him.

This doesn’t surprise me in the least. Back when he was in office he invited a group of conservative talk radio hosts to the White House. The idea was to get more in touch with his base. When asking them what was one of the major topics that their callers would bring up, universally it was the issue of illegal immigration. George W was genuinely caught off guard by this answer.. Even though he had served two terms as a governor of a border state.

I believe this was 2005. I think he did a second invite but either way, it was approximately 15 years ago. It’s as if he hasn’t learned anything in that time.

Thanks former President (need to be respectful) a-hole.

Take that 'thousand points of light' soliloquy and shove it where it won't shine.
