It’s so phony. They are going to televise al sharpton telling the world how this dead guy was a stand up person that had made a mistake or two.

he's real name was george perry floyd, he had a rap sheet under both the name george floyd and floyd perry.

you see sometimes career criminals will take an alias to try and get a fresh start when their real name has become toxic.

some of you guys might want to put your money in your shoe the next time your in the big city.

When he gets out, I'd be ok with a cop using excess force on him.

I would be waiting on the police to arrest me after I had killed that POS.

I'm not trying to justify his murder. And I'm not telling you what to think, that's the media's job. Half the people in this Country can't see the forest for the trees. There's a much bigger story here, and the media is doing it's best to cover it up.

Um...we have a judicial system for that. Some testosterone-loaded cop should not be deciding that. Any decent person should be horrified at this incident. It is completely irrelevant what the guy did or was doing. He was not resisting for the 8 minutes it took to die.

The cop had a “rap sheet” also. I dare say we would be safer without him wearing the badge also.

What it looks like to me is doing exactly what the media's doing, just at the far end of the spectrum. On the media end he's a "saint". On the other, he deserved to die.

Both are quite repugnant in my mind.

Completely agree. Considering the circumstances of the event, it doesn't really matter what his rap sheet is or isn't. While it gives more insight into who Floyd was, the incident gives more insight into the police officers there, more specifically Chauvin. He did not follow protocol and the other officers stood by and let it happen, which is a tragedy. Part of the problem might be that you're drawing in people to a low paying, high power job with only needing a high school education. I'm not saying there aren't great officers out there and everybody has to have a college degree, but the baseline given is not the greatest across the board when officers have as much power as they do.

I think the point is that while the way Floyd was killed was completely unacceptable on every level, does the world need to be putting Floyd on a Tshirt, being hailed as a hero by Hollywood elite and MSM and going on a 5 state funeral procession? I do not think so. George didn’t die for this cause. George died because he was high out of his mind and was not in the right mind to comply with law enforcement. The officer who killed Floyd is arrested and justice is being served.

If people want to protest police brutality then do that. But leave George out of it. That guy had not one single quality a child should aspire to emulate.

Fantastic post.

, I don't want to dismiss the cops actions bc of Floyd's rap sheet.

that is not what I'm trying to say

it looks like the reporting is pushing this as true:

Floyd is a wonderful role model and hero

and

The cop(s) are genocidal racists

in my view what is true is:

Floyd is low value societal dreg

and

The cops were unprofessional, uncaring, and criminally responsible

My post had read previously that I am sorry about your mother.

Too, I get the feeling your mother is "similarly" situated to poor Channon Christian and Hugh Christopher Newsom.

Edit: Spelling repair of Ms. Channon's surname.
