Yeah, that’s easy for you to say. Without giving too many connections away, let’s just say I know some of those involved in the planning, and they didn’t have any say in the decision. As I said, thank your state department. Anthony Blinken is a total failure.
I assume you're referring to military officers, to which I woukd say "why didn't they resign publicly in protest?"

Bet his retirement papers went in within minutes…

Because they would have happily accepted resignations and put another DEI/woke hire in their place.

I'm all for holding General's accountable, but this isn't it.
He was the CG for 82nd and they went there for less than a month to help facilitate the withdrawal.
A 2-star division commander did not make policy nor strategic decisions here.
The SECDEF, CENTCOM, DoS, Pentagon all had the say in how this would go.
Go after the decision makers there.
I don't know LTG Donahue, but his career speaks for itself. He's spent a majority of his career in Delta force, eventually commanding it. He has over 7 years of combat time in Iraq and Afghanistan...that's real combat, not chilling at the green zone or eating burger king at Camp Victory every day.
This is retaliating against the wrong guy because of people that have no understanding of how things actually function want to look good under the new regime.

if you want to blame anyone, blame the Milley, Austin, and joint chiefs for not standing together and telling the state department and everyone else that they could go have sex with themselves and they would handle the withdrawal.
Maybe so..but I'll blame the cocksucker overseeing the operation. He isn't qualified if he left men to due.
frick him. He could have done differently

Not retaliation, basic accountability.
EXACTLY!
And actually, not even accountability. That would involve a more serious reckoning.
Deciding not to promote the guy is simply a matter of proper consideration of merit. He doesn’t deserve a promotion.
That’s not anywhere close to the accountability that he deserves.

Vetted friendlies and their families leave first along with US citizens under full protection of military security
Civilian govt workers - State, CIA, etc leave second under full protection of military security. Files are destroyed and locations sanitized.
Military withdraws back to Bagram under full force and support.
Remove what we want, destroy to the rest and military withdraws once complete.
This wasn’t that hard. Even if it takes 6 months to execute properly who cares?

It’s virtue signaling by a RINO POS senator that brokered the Thune deal and smeared Gaetz incessantly. OK needs to primary this asshat.

“Jimmy Russel”
they have too many Chiefs undeserving, so
even if this guy had his hands tied behind his back, he still didn’t try to be a voice against his poor leadership, so why the promotion either way?
He sounds like a “yes man”, he doesn’t need. promotion!

quote:well, they boxed themselves in. When Trump floated an idiotic idea those Generals would bloviate, resign in protest, write tell all books, and POLITICALLY campaign against Trump calling him a facist and a threat to democracy.
Just to clear the air here, the generals planning the withdrawal were told that they had a limited number of troops and that necessitated the choice between evacuating from Bagram or Kabul. They literally did not have the resources they needed To do the job correctly, and compromises were made. Tactically, leaving those 13 service members exposed was a critical mistake, but if you want to blame anyone, blame the Milley, Austin, and joint chiefs for not standing together and telling the state department and everyone else that they could go have sex with themselves and they would handle the withdrawal.
When Biden acted on such things, not just float an idea, and put a stupid plan into motion they said nothing before or after. They weren't on CNN, they didn't do Maddow's show, etc.
Now we are probably in agreement they shouldn't be doing those shows and maintain absolute civil control over the military as with Biden. BUT, they boxed themselves in by not showing Trump the same deference including contacting an adversary saying they would refuse Trumps orders.
They chose the delta between the reactions. That choice will now have consequences.

If we're talking the JCS, then yes, they need to all be canned. However, we're talking about the 1-2 stars who are having to execute with hands tied behind their backs. I get it that people want reckoning. However, let's make sure that the right people get it.

No retaliation. This is akin to firing a McDonalds employee who set the French fry station on fire. Should be demoted, investigated and prosecuted.

Those 1-2 stars you mention shouldn't face extreme punitive measures such as court martial, probably not even demotion.
But if you have stars, likely even a silver/gold eagle, you are clearly leadership and if you did not even put out a white paper you should not be rewarded with promotion. You had a duty greater than going along to get along to move up the ranks.
