I think the bigger takeaway here is that very little personal accountability leads to pisspoor performance.

BTW Blackwater just changed names and still works with the US govt.

God forbid we focus on the greater good in healthcare and education rather than greed.

If there is no incentive then why do it?
What should really happen is for government to stop regulating and allow the market to work. If there was competition then the costs would be lower.
The federal government has no business in education, healthcare, or insurance.

Polio vaccine is a great example. The greater good.

So much stupidity in one post.

Americans are far and away the most giving group in the history of man. And no one gives anywhere near the foreign medical aid as we do. We can afford to do that because of our capitalist profits.

Profit focus leads to treatments, not cures. Wall street wants sick people to rely on treatments and stay sick forever so they will continue spending money instead of being cured.

What if I told you greed ultimately leads to greater goods?

The greater good? Probably, but it’s also probable that he chosen to make a little profit then he could’ve invested in other advancements.
But more importantly, that was a personal altruistic decision and not government forced.

Profits = better health care and education. Markets produce far better and more efficient products than government.

This is an argument an uneducated 12 year old would make.
If you really went to A&M, you got ripped off, badly.

Healthcare being for profit is what leads to innovation
Plus all those Hospitals built of and by the extremely wealthy? Yep, they built FOR the wealth too. Safe investment with eventual guaranteed ROI since EVERYONE will become sick, injured, or dying.
Without those "filthy immoral" rich people the medical centers, as they have grown into from simple hospitals, would never exist.
Show us just one, 1, medical center built by the poor. Hell, even one from the middle class. I'll bet you can't point out a single medical facility in America built of and by "Joe the Plumber" from Schenectady/Oswego/Panama City/etc.. Nor will you find one built by Rosie the Riveter.

He's not wrong.
Lung cancer treatments have horrible real life expectations but are sold to the patient as life saving treatments at exorbitant costs.
The real problem with healthcare is that it in no way resembles the free market.

I get your point, but what's the solution?
You can't legislate stupidity out of a population.

The cancer survival rate has increased dramatically over the past few decades.
The type of cancer I have, treatments are changing so rapidly it's hard to keep up with them.
